A "completely worthless, unserious clown of a human being"...and those are his good qualities
Rep. Brain Mast (R-FL) is an utter waste of humanity
This cures everything except stupidity, which is an epidemic on the rise.
Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Angel's Game
At times his arrogance did resolve itself into simplicity, though it was difficult, especially for strangers, to distinguish these occasions.
Patrick White, Voss
I am not unused to clueless, ignorant, vile Republicans who are thoroughly devoid of anything resembling compassion, kindness, and self-awareness. That’s a daily thing on Capitol Hill these days- arrogant, brain-dead Conservatives who think they’re God’s gift to the intellectual analysis of…well, anything. Most can barely tie their shoelaces or order lunch, much less analyze what’s happening in the Middle East.
And yet there they are, pontificating on world affairs as if they are the be-all and end-all of authorities on whatever they’re embarrassing themselves over.
Today’s ambulatory POS is Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who’d be well-advised to stop talking…no, never to START talking because whenever he opens his mouth, his double-digit IQ becomes painfully evident.
This is about the most sicko thing a United States congressman has said on the House floor since we don’t know when. Regardless of how exactly one feels about the Israel-Hamas war — nuance exists! — one thing all decent people should be able to agree on is that we grieve over the civilians caught in the middle of this, Palestinian civilians and Israeli civilians, innocent victims all. (You know, on top of how we should all agree that rank antisemitism and rank Islamophobia are both fucking disgusting and shouldn’t be tolerated.)
But Florida Republican Rep. Brian Mast doesn’t feel that way. No, he feels very, very differently.
“I think when we look at this as a whole, I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of ‘innocent Palestinian civilians,’ as is frequently said. I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”
Let that dollop of f*****g idiocy roll around your brainpan for a moment. Then consider that Rep. Motormouth compared Palestinian civilians to Nazis, a comparison no rational observer would EVER make.
Never mind the fact that it’s apples and oranges. Palestinians are people, a culture, the residents of an area in the Middle East.
Nazis were a political party dedicated to the iron-fisted rule of the Third Reich and the murder of all Jews within their Empire.
“The list goes on and on of the examples we can give of what somebody might just call a rank-and-file Gazan, or rank-and-file person in the West Bank, or just a Palestinian — that maybe they don’t say, falls under the name of Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad — but by any classical definition would absolutely be considered a terrorist.”….
“There are very few innocent Palestinian civilians. I haven’t seen the videos of the innocent Palestinian civilians that were out there trying to protect the Israelis, that were out there trying to stop attacks.”
Well…um, sure…if you discount the unarmed women and children. And the 2.1 million people jammed into Gaza City. And the 100,000 stuffed into the single square mile of the Jabaliya refugee camp, and, and, and…sure, there were no innocent civilians, except for all the ones buried under the apartment buildings, schools, and hospitals bombed by the Israeli Army.
When I’d begun to think that there were no lower depths to which elected representatives on Capitol Hill could sink, Rep. Mast busts through to prove once again that Republicans live in a barrel with no bottom.
What an utter f*****g waste of humanity.
Mast is a completely worthless, unserious clown of a human. One of the last times he appeared on Wonkette is when he literally manufactured out of whole cloth lies about Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee throwing American flags in the trash outside her office. Obviously he is a seditionist, obviously.
He also has this weird thing where he likes to cosplay as a member of the IDF, because one time he did this volunteer thing with the IDF, therefore he now thinks he is one of them or something.
So yeah, he is just a whole entire sack of shit.
This is not a time for a Congressman to be cosplaying as an IDF soldier or pretending that he knows anything at all about what’s happening in Israel. While Rep. Mast is playing pretend soldier and pontificating about comparing “innocent Nazi civilians” to “innocent Palestinian civilians.” Yeah, because Nazi Germany and the situation in the Gaza Strip are precisely the same thing.
And, of course, because Rep. Mast is convinced that all Palestinians are members of Hamas, he’s convinced that America shouldn’t be sending aid to Palestine…because it’ll just end up in the hands of Hamas, don’tchaknow??
Because…repeat after me: ALL PALESTINIANS ARE HAMAS.
CONGRESS IS CONSIDERING a bill that would significantly slow down humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip amid ongoing airstrikes and a ground invasion by Israel that have left at least 8,000 dead and strained critical resources in the already besieged Palestinian territory.
The debate over the bill comes two weeks after its sponsor said U.S. officials should make all efforts to slow down any humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza and suggested that there is no distinction between civilians — including children — and the militant group Hamas that massacred some 1,300 Israelis in an October 7 surprise attack.
The original text in the bill — the Hamas International Financing Prevention Act, or H.R. 340 — allowed a humanitarian exemption to provide food, medicine, and medical devices to civilians in Gaza. During committee markup, Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., the sponsor, offered an amendment to remove the language and replace it with a provision that would require President Joe Biden to issue a case-by-case waiver to approve humanitarian aid transfers.
“Any assistance should be slowed down — any assistance,” Mast had said in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on the bill last month. “Because I would challenge anybody in here to point to me, which Palestinian is Hamas, and which one is an innocent civilian? Which is the child that was poking other Israeli children?” — a reference to a viral video allegedly showing Palestinian boys prodding an Israeli Jewish hostage in Gaza — “And which ones exactly are the innocent ones? … It should absolutely be every effort made to slow down any perceived assistance that’s going there.”
I certainly don’t want to discount the not-inconsiderable possibility that aid shipped to Gaza won’t- at least in part- end up in the hands of Hamas. But is that sufficient reason to do nothing at all when hospitals have been bombed into inoperability and food and water sources are few and far between?
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee sent out a recommendation to Congress that members vote against HR 340, but why must America err on the side of inhumanity? When innocent civilians, despite what Rep. Mast thinks, are suffering and dying, isn’t it incumbent upon America to do what it can to alleviate suffering to whatever degree possible?
Mast replied by doubling down and claiming that no Palestinian is innocent. “I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians, as is frequently said,” Mast said. “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II. It is not a far stretch to say there are very few innocent Palestinian civilians.” Members who vote for the resolution might not understand that the bill slows down rather than eases the transfer of humanitarian aid, according to two senior Democratic staffers familiar with the bill, given that the language replaced the original humanitarian aid exemption with a waiver provision.
Well, yeah, but Rep. Mast is a racist and an idiot. To think that women and children are carrying weapons and fighting Israeli soldiers as opposed to merely fighting to survive is about as absurd and inhumane as it gets.
I’d like to drop Rep. Mast in the center of Gaza City and see if he changes his tune…if he survives.
It would be easy to say that Brian Mast is just a POS human being…and perhaps it’s just that simple. Still, as much as I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, it’s difficult to believe that even a White Conservative Christian Cisgender Heterosexual could be so arrogant, mean-spirited, lacking in compassion…and lacking in native intelligence.
For someone who’s served honorably and well in the American military as Rep. Mast has, you’d think he’d have a bit more on the ball and perhaps a wee bit more compassion. Sadly, it would appear his combat experience sapped him of whatever compassion and kindness he may have previously possessed.
What’s left is a racist jackass and a flaming POS, which doesn’t say much for the constituents in Floriduh who voted him into office.

The Republicans do love their stolen valor posturing, don't they?
I wonder how Palestinians were supposed to protect Israelis during the Hamas terrorist raid when they locked away in what are concentration camps?
