It fascinates me that there are 3000+ religions in this world. Yet somehow, the American Taliban is CONVINCED that their flavor of God- and EXCLUSIVELY their flavor- is the ONE, TRUE, and ONLY faith. Yes, their God is a Conservative Republican- and a mean-spirited, vindictive, and utterly humorless one at that.
Indeed, their God lives to smite believers who’ve sinned against Him, whether in thought, word, OR deed. He monitors them for f**k-ups 24/7/365, eagerly awaiting those moments when he can come down like a hammer on a believer for f**cking up. And when they do…WHAM!!! But God loves them, and he needs their money (apologies to the late George Carlin).
Despite living in mortal fear of their God, His adherents work overtime to convince nonbelievers to come and live under the protection of His umbrella. Their God is never happy; he always wants more followers who will live in fear of Him. Yeah, he needs the money.
And He’s always looking for more charismatic voices who will spread His Word about the importance of taking over every aspect of life, including government. Because God’s a Conservative Republican with an enduring hatred for Liberal Democrats. This is an amazing coincidence because these charismatic voices ALSO hate Liberal Democrats.

Right-wing pastor Kent Christmas used the Sunday sermon at his Regeneration Nashville church to rail against the Biden administration, declaring that the “authority of the kingdom of God” is the only legitimate power on Earth and therefore everything else “is an illegal authority.”
Christmas is an anti-vax, vehemently anti-LGBTQ right-wing activist who regularly uses his sermons to rail against President Joe Biden and spread the lie that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump. During his most recent sermon, Christmas warned that his political enemies will soon “bow at the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
“The enemy cannot tell the truth,” Christmas said. “When liberals talk, they lie.”
Of course, Christmas KNOWS, as does any REAL White Conservative Christian heterosexual, that HIS God is the only REAL God. He also knows that having a Democrat in the White House is an abomination before God…and an abomination that MUST. NOT. STAND.
So “the authority of the kingdom of God” is the only legitimate power on Earth, making everything else “an illegal authority?”
And who determines what IS “the authority of the kingdom of God?” Hmm…could it be that Kent Christmas has himself in mind for that position? Wouldn’t that be convenient? Almost TOO convenient??
The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.

Socialism (though if you ask them to define it, they’d almost certainly fall short)
Independent thinking
Questioning authority (theirs)
The more than 2,999 religions that aren’t theirs
Gun control
The social safety net
Reproductive healthcare
The unborn after they exit the womb, at which point the American Taliban no longer wants anything to do with them
Anyone who questions the righteousness of Donald Trump
Enemies of the truth (as they define it, of course)
I could go on, but you get the point. It’s a very long list, and it could be much longer if I put my mind to it, which I’m choosing not to do.
What are they “for”? That’s much more challenging to nail down because in their righteous anger, American Taliban “Christians” like Kent Christmas never really declare what teachings of Jesus Christ are essential to them.
You never hear about things like love, tolerance, acceptance, understanding, or any of the other positive teachings found in the Gospel. To American Taliban stalwarts like Christmas, their faith is an angry, hate-filled theology not meant to lift people. It’s intended to keep people not like them down. No, the benefits of their flavor of Christianity are limited to White Conservative heterosexuals. All others need not apply.

I’m an atheist, but I remember enough from my Sunday School days to know that Jesus Christ, at least in the Lutheran Church I went to, was all about things like love, forgiveness, and acceptance. I learned Scripture that taught me that Jesus loved the least among every bit as much as anyone else.
Yet, as I listen to American Taliban “Christians” like Kent Christmas, what I hear is nothing like the Gospel I learned about when I was a wee lad. He never discusses Christ as a loving, forgiving deity willing to accept sinners no matter where they come from or what they’ve done.
What I hear from Christmas is anger, recrimination, and the promise of a God who will kick ass and take names because there’s a Democrat in the White House. Since when does God care about pointless temporal matters such as politics? When did He become a Conservative Republican bent on scorching the Earth to ensure that “people bow at the name of Lord Jesus Christ?”
Nobody has the right to worship on this planet any other God than Jehovah. And therefore the state does not have the responsibility to defend anybody's pseudo-right to worship an idol.

I’d humbly submit that the very people worshiping an idol are people like Kent Christmas. The American Taliban is arrogantly using their “Christian faith,” such as it is, as camouflage for their only genuine desire- total political domination. This isn’t about “bringing America back to God.” It’s about seizing control over the levers of power and using Christianity to mask their craven lust for power.
No, Democrats and the Biden Administration are not attempting to “run down Christianity and run down belief in God.” If anything, the American Taliban is ruining Christianity by turning it into the religious version of the “No Fun League.” They’ve introduced the term “Christian fascist” into the American lexicon, a term that Jesus Christ overturned tables in the Temple to protest.
American Taliban “Christians” want to be free to punish others for failing to adhere to the ONE, TRUE, and ONLY faith, but they get their panties in a wad when they feel as if their “right” to persecute others is being denied.
To think that Kent Christmas’ flavor of Christianity is the ONE, TRUE, and ONLY faith is as ridiculous as it is theologically unsound. Americans have the absolute right to worship as we see fit (or, in my case, not to worship). No one has the right to tell any American how they must worship to be a “proper” citizen.
America was founded partly on freedom of worship. This is NOT a Christian nation, despite what so many members of the American Taliban have chosen to believe. They can argue all they want, but I have the Treaty of Tripoli, Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists, and the Establishment Clause of the Constitution’s 1st Amendment on my side.
