Another Great Moment In Performative Dipshittery- When Everything Bad Is "Woke"
You know Republicans have nothing positive to offer when "woke" is what they blame bank failures on
the regressive dipshits who can’t stop calling everything they don’t like “woke” are now blaming the failure of the Silicon Valley Bank on … wokeness.
oh, please.
as you know, woke is “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”
and that’s not me saying that. that’s a direct quote from Ryan Newman, Ron DeSantis’s general counsel. to them, that’s a bad thing. a just society is what they’re afraid of.
Welcome to Another Great Moment in Performative Dipshittery, or as you might find it easier to remember, just another day in Republican politics. You may or may not remember that the Silicon Valley Bank failed over the past few days, and while that means little, if anything, to me, it’s a BFD in the financial world.
This means that Republicans will fall all over themselves searching for a way to blame it on the Biden Administration. And, true to form, that’s precisely what’s been going down. Only the way it’s been happening is not what a reasonable person might have expected. So, the Performative Dipshittery has hit a new low, which I hadn’t seen coming but hardly comes as a surprise.
frankly, it would be totally fucking awesome if the Silicon Valley Bank believed that “there are systemic injustices in American society” and worked “to address them.”
but trust me, SVB didn’t.
SVB catered to tech bros, the most toxic, misogynistic and racist segment of society outside of smalltown southern sheriffs.
‘Course, if they were honest, Republicans would’ve placed the blame exactly where it belongs-on the guy who ran SVB. But, unsurprisingly, he’s the same guy responsible for the Trump Adminstration rolling back bank regulations. Yes, the very regulations that might have prevented SVB from going tits-up.
But they’re not honest because that would mean…well, having to admit that they’ve been total flaming jackasses for at least the past…oh, 10-12 years and perhaps even longer.
Then again, it’s what Republicans do, yeah? These performative dumbasses have never made a mistake for which they couldn’t (and wouldn’t) blame someone else. Even when it looked like this:
Yes, Orange Jesus’ f**k-ups seem to be returning to haunt America…and guess who Republicans are trying to blame for them? If you’re thinking Joe Biden and “woke-ism,” you get to go the head of the class, Elmo.
Yeah, if only we could find some common thread linking these events….
Hmm…Joe Biden? Woke-ism? Yeah, that must be it.
Because everything that goes wrong, falls flat on its face, or might conceivably bear the stench of Republican responsibility MUST be explained away somehow. And “wokeism” covers a multitude of ills, even if few Republicans could, if pressed, offer a cogent definition.
Ferchrissakes, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Mordor) even called the US Army “woke.” Does it get any more shameless? As if I even need to answer that.
WTAF is wrong with these people?
And sometimes you have to wonder what these maroons are even thinking:
Uh…correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the GOP the party of the elites? Aren’t they the ones who pushed through Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires? So now everything’s all “woke,” and Republicans are up in arms because they think Joe Biden’s coming to the aid of the very elites they propped up in 2017?
WTF? What am I missing here?
So the problem is that Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) didn’t hire enough qualified White Conservative heterosexual males? Is that the problem this goose-stepping White Makes Right expert has identified? ‘Cuz I have to believe this isn’t close to being the problem. It has far more to do with the bank making poor decisions at the worst times and not doing what it should have done to recover and protect its depositors.
It had nothing to do with Marxists and their alleged “get woke, go broke” philosophy. Don’t you think bank regulators and customers would’ve sniffed out that sort of problem long before SVB faced the prospect of insolvency?
Oh, and in case you might have been wondering, many Americans think “woke” is a GOOD thing, NOT an insult.
Fifty-six percent of Americans say “wokeness” encompasses being informed, educated on, and aware of social injustices.
Yeah, Americans favor being kind, thoughtful, and a decent human being. Go figure.
Well, except for this creature.
Jesus Christ, these people are dicks. A crisis hits them, and they’ll demand help yesterday. But when something happens to “rich, liberal Hollywood snobs,” you can bet they’ll be the first to hang others out to dry.
What about modern Conservatism makes compassion and kindness utterly incompatible with the ideology? It’s as if extending kindness to another human being is viewed as a character flaw and a moral failing.
IF SVB was “woke,” whatever that might mean to the compassion-free bots on the Far-Right, I doubt it had anything to do with the bank going under. Exceedingly poor financial decisions were undoubtedly made, contributing to SVB’s failure. Whether diversity hires or White Conservative heterosexuals made those decisions makes no difference.
Being “woke” is not why we are where we are today, and Rep. Comer’s comments are those of a moron wholly ignorant of which he speaks but of which he feels compelled to sound off anyway. Stupid is as stupid pontificates….
Rep. Comer is what Republicans sound like when they have nothing positive to offer- which is most of the time- but they still need to feel like they’re in charge.
“Woke” is just another way to attack those trying to do something positive. It’s a way to try to tear down those looking to provide opportunities for those who aren’t White Conservative Christian heterosexual males. It’s about spreading hate toward anyone who’s working against the dominant narrative that White Makes Right.
In the case of SVB, they may have been trying to advance programs to assist minorities and those who’ve had fewer advantages than White Conservative heterosexual males. I don’t know that to be the case, but if it’s true, then good on them. It also has nothing to do with whether or how SVB failed. No bank- or any other business- needs a minimum daily requirement of White Conservative heterosexual males to be successful.
I’m not an expert on banking regulations or bank failures, and I’m pretty OK with that- the thought of trying to understand all that makes my brain hurt.
What I know is that while Republicans have been screaming “FIRE!” in a crowded theater, President Joe Biden has been calmly figuring out how to douse the fire. Do I know the best way to do it? Of course not, but I recognize calm, decisive leadership when I see it, and I don’t see Republicans providing it.
There will be lessons to be learned and wrists to be slapped, but it seems clear that Donald Trump bears a good share of the blame for this clusterf**k. He loosened the regulations that allowed what happened at SVB to occur. That can be changed, and it appears the Biden Administration intends to do precisely that.
So, we’ll move on and hope for better days. And we’ll endeavor to tune out the Republican lunacy. It’s not as if they have anything constructive to add, anyway.
