Being White Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry
You can even commit murder and claim "SELF-DEFENSE!!"
A Wisconsin jury has acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse on all charges in his homicide trial.
The 18-year-old fell over after hearing the verdict. The jury deliberated roughly 26 hours.
Rittenhouse pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide, claiming he shot three men, two fatally, in self-defense during a 2020 protest….
Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, were shot and killed, while 27-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz was wounded.
Huber's parents, Karen Bloom and John Huber, said they're "heartbroken and angry" by the acquittal.
"Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son," they said in a statement. "It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people in the street."
In what should come as a surprise to precisely no one in today’s America, Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges in the killing of two men and wounding another with a weapon of war last summer in Kenosha, WI.
Rittenhouse, a wannabe police officer, got to live out his fantasy during the riots in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake last summer. But, with the judge treating him as a race hero, it didn’t take a Ph.D. to read the tea leaves. The outcome was almost preordained.
To any objective observer, Rittenhouse’s claim of self-defense was 100% pure, Grade-A, top-shelf bull shit. If Rittenhouse was concerned about his physical safety, why did he show up in Kenosha armed for combat in the first place?
The U.S. Army taught me a long time ago that if you show up at a gun fight with a weapon of war, you’d best be prepared to use it. Kyle Rittenhouse clearly wasn’t prepared for that eventuality. Perhaps he thought he’d run around for a few hours an play G.I. Joe, but when an AR-15 is invited to the party, there’s no telling who’s going to get hurt. Or worse.
His crocodile tears while on the stand as he testified were transparently lousy acting, but it was good enough for the jury to feel sorry for him.
No one who wasn’t in the jury room can genuinely understand the reasons for acquittal, but like most of us, I have my suspicions. Rittenhouse was a White kid playing “good guy with a gun” (the National Rifle Association’s wet dream). Kyle Rittenhouse is now the poster child for the NRA’s sick, twisted, and wholly self-righteous interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, and from today forward he’ll probably never lack for Conservative patrons.
I can only speak for myself, but it sickens me that an immature White kid can run through the streets of an American city with an AR-15- a weapon of war- and kill two people, wound another, and be acquitted for those heinous acts.
It’s a lily-White world out there, kids. Enjoy the privilege…’cuz Lord knows there’s plenty of it to go around.
Whatever else may happen, Rittenhouse will have to live with the fact that he killed two people for no good reason. He may have been “acquitted” in the eyes of the law, but that doesn’t make him innocent in the eyes of his fellow human beings.
Kyle Rittenhouse may be only 18 years old, but he will forever be known as the cop-wannabe who killed two men and wounded another and got off because he screamed “SELF-DEFENSE!!”. No matter what he does or where he goes, he will never be able to outrun his murderous past. He may not have been convicted of the crime he was being tried for, but he’s still a murderer.
I’d like to say that I feel sorry for the kid, but given the way he’s conducted himself over the past year-plus since his murder, it’s clear he feels little remorse. Perhaps someday he’ll grow up and understand the gravity of what he’s done. Or perhaps he’s just arrogant enough to believe he’s a really big deal.
I hope that Rittenhouse will be tortured by what he did, but I also hope that his unwarranted good fortune will lead him to remorse, repentance, and the resolve to lead a better life. He can’t change the past, but he can control his future, and for his sake, I sincerely hope he makes the most of it.
His victims and their loved ones deserved better than the clown car of justice that was the Wisconsin courtroom the Rittenhouse trial was conducted in. Unfortunately for the victims, the judge all but led the defense for Rittenhouse. Worse, he clearly lacked the gravitas needed to try a double homicide case. If anything, he seemed to admire Rittenhouse. How pathetic.
Sadly, now that double jeopardy applies, Rittenhouse can’t be tried again for murder, but he may still have civil liability depending on what the victim’s families decide to do.
Today we learned that a White guy carrying a weapon of war while claiming “self-defense” can literally get away with murder.
Don’tcha just LOVE America?? And isn’t it GREAT to be White??
