Christians Killing Homos For Jesus
Is this what some of the dark corners of "Christianity" have become??
Am I sad that five homos got shot? No, I’m not sad at all. As a matter of fact, I think it’s a good thing that they’re not here anymore to molest kids.
Pastor Aaron Thompson
Yes, America…say hello to Pastor Aaron Thompson from the Sure Foundation Baptist Church, just across the Columbia River from me in bucolic Vancouver, WA- Trump Country, USA.
(And people wonder why I call it “Vantucky.”)
I don’t know a thing about Pastor Thompson- and I frankly don’t want to- but the fact that he claims to be a man of God and is openly proclaiming to be happy that a few of God’s children are dead is repulsive. If he’d bothered to check, he’d know that not all of them were gay, not that their sexual preference matters a damn. They were human beings with lives and dreams and loved ones- and Pastor Thompson, who claims to preach the Word of God, is proclaiming his happiness over their slaughter.
If he’s a man of God, I’m Michael Jordan.
Whether or not he approves of homosexuality is entirely beside the point. He’s free to his opinion, however odious I might find it. But to rejoice over the deaths of fellow human beings because of their alleged sexual preferences? And to also proclaim himself a man of God, someone who preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ? He believes himself qualified to represent someone who taught love, acceptance, tolerance, and kindness? Pastor Thompson is little more than a first-class, Grade-A, top-shelf, USDA Prime hypocrite.
How can a man preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ when the words that come from his mouth are all about hatred and rejection of God’s children? How can he consider others to be “less than” when the Lord and Savior he claims to revere washed the feet of His disciples and treated all as His equal?
What Pastor Thompson is too arrogant and ignorant to recognize is that members of the LGBTQ community are FAR less likely to molest children than are White Conservative Christian males- people like him. But, of course, it’s far easier to hate what you can’t or refuse to understand.
The other thing he conveniently ignored about the mass shooting at Club Q is that their drag performance wasn’t open to anyone under 18. Then again, why let facts get in the way of an excellent opportunity to use hatred and fear to bring people to your homophobic version of Jesus?
"I’m not condoning anybody to do anything like that," Thompson said. "I don’t believe it’s right to take the law into our own hands, and I’ve said that so many times. But here’s what I won’t be upset about: I’m not going to be upset when someone that hates God and actively is promoting against God, and hates His guts, and molests children, even if it is just their eyeballs, to have to see these freaks writhing around and, and, and, you know doing all these crazy dances in front of children and then afterwards reading them a book or something."
The Southern Poverty Law Center has identified the church as a hate group, and a man who sometimes attended services there was charged with hate crimes in June for making unprovoked threats against LGBTQ people.
That a “Christian” Church has been identified as a hate group is a sad commentary in and of itself. One could easily use Pastor Thompson’s own words against himself. He acts like someone who “hates God and actively is promoting against God, and hates His guts,” which is precisely the sort of language that someone hiding his own sordid secrets might use to hide the truth.
I’m not saying Pastor Thompson is hiding anything, but when someone preaches such a hateful and homophobic brand of “Christianity” and openly proclaims his happiness over the murders of others, what are we to think? Not all of the dead were LGBTQ, but they were human beings deserving of respect and dignity. That’s something Pastor Thompson can’t be bothered to provide them. In his mind, all who died were LGBTQ and therefore worthy only of death. That they weren’t all LGBTQ and none of them deserved to die is beside the point to him
I may be an atheist, but I’d submit that I understand more of the teachings of Jesus Christ than Pastor Anderson ever has, could, or will. The man’s a prisoner of his fear, ignorance, arrogance, and homophobia. His understanding of the true meaning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ hovers around zero.
Of course, this isn’t Pastor Anderson’s first brush with infamy:
How very “Christian” of him, eh?
Yes, he’s calling for the government to execute “pedophiles” and “do its job.” There’s a problem with that, though. There’s no correlation to be made between “pedophiles” and the LGBTQ community. Pastor Anderson, if he’d bother to do some research, might be surprised to learn that pedophiles are far more likely to be people like him- White Conservative Christian heterosexual males. Then again, why let the truth get in the way of a good Two-Minute Hate?
Project much?
Some might think that, as an atheist, I understand little about Christianity. The truth is that I know a great deal about America’s majority religion. That’s why I’m an atheist.
I believe that Christianity is an excellent religion with a lot of very useful teachings and philosophies. For example, peace, goodwill among men, acceptance, tolerance, kindness, etc., are all very good ideas.
But, like Gandhi once said, it’s not Christianity I’m scared of. It’s just that your Christians are so unlike your Christ. And therein lies the problem. So many have thoroughly bastardized Christianity for their ends, to the point where whatever it is they’re doing looks nothing like the teachings of Jesus.
Hypocrisy and lust for power aren’t good looks, but that’s what too many Christians are addicted to these days, and it’s been that way throughout history. Hateful, murderous zealots like Pastor Aaron Thompson are as much faithful Christians as I am a Premier League goalkeeper. That’s sad, because I know many good, and well-meaning Christians who seriously endeavor to live their faith (And I haven’t stopped a shot in anger in 40 years).
Unfortunately, their quiet but earnest voices are too often drowned out by haters, bigots, and hypocrites.
It seems the Pharisees have won.
This paragraph has a notable error you may wish to change ("over 18" to "under 18"): "The other thing he conveniently ignored about the mass shooting at Club Q is that their drag performance wasn’t open to anyone over 18. Then again, why let facts get in the way of an excellent opportunity to use hatred and fear to bring people to your homophobic version of Jesus?"
Pastor Thompson doesn't care if you and the rest of society have bridle ears. he will continue to preach the truth till the end
