I was never a teenage girl, but I have it on good authority that starting your period can be rather traumatic. And I’d suspect that learning the ropes of how to deal with the blood, the messiness, and the associated inconvenience would be…disquieting at the very least.

Imagine coming from poverty and knowing that your family struggles to afford food. Then add to that stress having to pony up for menstruation products. Add shame and embarrassment on top of all that trauma, and how might that make you feel?
