If You Lie With Sufficient Frequency And Fervor, You Might Just Be A Republican
Or, why doesn't anyone believe Jim Jordan anymore??
If you take anything Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) says at face value (and why would you?), the FBI is now a hotbed of anti-Conservative persecution.
Oh, the humanity.
Of course, Jordan is a habitual liar and rhetorical bomb thrower, so any reasonable observer will first want to seek independent corroboration because what Jordan is alleging is serious stuff. That’s how he gets attention, after all.
EXCLUSIVE: The FBI is allegedly engaging in a "purge" of employees with conservative viewpoints and retaliating against whistleblowers who have made protected disclosures to Congress by revoking security clearances, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan told Fox News Digital.
Jordan, R-Ohio, said that more than a dozen FBI whistleblowers have come to him and Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee with allegations of misconduct within the FBI.
Jordan and Republicans have been investigating "serious allegations of abuse and misconduct within the senior leadership of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation."
Hmm…”serious allegations of abuse.” “Purge of employees.” “FBI whistleblowers.” Jordan certainly makes it sound serious. So just what IS the Biden Administration up to??
It’s interesting what pops up if you do a Bing search for “FBI retaliates against whistleblowers.” The American entries that pop up are all Right-wing news sites- The Daily Caller, CNS News, The Daily Wire, PJ Media, The Washington Examiner, Gateway Pundit, and Fox News.
I scrolled through 10 pages of search results, with nary a left-leaning source to be found. So what does this tell me? Off the top of my head, Conservatives are trying their damnedest to generate a controversy where none exists. If this were a legitimate scandal, media from the Left, Right, and Center would be crawling all over it.
Also, the fact that it’s Jim Jordan leading the charge isn’t a good sign for the Far Right. It’s like having the little boy who cried “FIRE!” too often try it again, only to be roundly ignored by those with any common sense.
Sure, there are those in Washington who’d latch onto any story showing any hope- however slim- of embarrassing the Biden Administration. Still, I don’t think this looks to be the scandal that will push them over the edge. The President made it clear early on that he won’t tolerate that sort of behavior, so I doubt that purging Conservatives would be tolerated within the FBI for very long.
And that’s if it DID happen, which seems doubtful. Moreover, Jordan has offered no conclusive proof that such behavior has occurred. All he’s said is that he has “serious allegations of abuse” and that “FBI whistleblowers” have come to him with concerns. As a result, Jordan said, he’s investigating “serious allegations of abuse and misconduct within the senior leadership of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
What that “abuse and misconduct” is isn’t spelled out, of course- and that’s precisely what’s wrong with this scenario. We’re told that SOMETHING’S ROTTEN IN DENMARK, but we’ll have to trust Jim Jordan on this one. Right; no evidence has been provided, and we’re to take the word of a professional liar? Not from where I sit.
Of course, this is the same Jim Jordan whose reputation for integrity ranks up there with Joe Isuzu. Jordan would say or do anything if he felt it would bounce Joe Biden from office. Veracity isn’t even a consideration because Jordan is from the Newt Gingrich School of Republican Politics. He believes politics is a bloodsport, and the point isn’t merely to win but to obliterate your opponent.
To Jordan, integrity is for losers and Liberals. Something doesn’t have to BE true for Jordan to say it; it merely has to FEEL true and have the potential to do maximum political damage. By the time the American Sheeple figure out that he’s lying, it will be too late because their attention will have shifted to something else, and it will no longer matter.
That no reputable media outlet has picked up this story tells me that they may have sniffed around and discovered that it was a made-up story intended to embarrass the Biden Administration. Unfortunately, there was no way to corroborate it, and I suspect it took little effort and even less time to debunk it.
And that’that'sproblem with much of the Right-wing media. They don’tdon't to verify a story to run it. It only has to sound as if it could be true, which is why my search only turned up Right-wing media sources.
The FBI said it does not punish employees for expressing their views and nor does it retaliate against whistleblowers.
"The FBI does not target or take adverse action against employees for exercising their First Amendment rights or for their political views; to allege otherwise is false and misleading," an FBI spokesperson told Fox News. "The FBI is required to follow established policies and procedures, to include a thorough investigation, when suspending or revoking a security clearance."
The FBI said it "takes very seriously its responsibility to FBI employees who may make protected disclosures under the whistleblower regulations."
"FBI employees who report evidence of wrongdoing through a protected disclosure are protected from retaliation," the spokesperson added.
Of course, I suspect that Rep. Jordan is far less concerned with the fact of the matter than with the accusations themselves and how someone might use them against the Biden Administration. If the allegations were provable, it would be a grave matter, but the fact that no reputable media outlet has picked up this story tells me “There’s no ‘there’ there.” (apologies to Gertrude Stein).
Then again, Jordan never could pass up a chance to embarrass the President. Would that he possessed the self-awareness to recognize what an outsized embarrassment he’s become…but such hope would be unrealistic. Jordan’s drunk too much of the GOP Kool-Aid.
Anyway, Rep. Jordan, how about the wrestlers who molested during your time at Ohio State and about whom you’ve conveniently forgotten? If we’re to create a scandal, why not start with a legitimate one of your own creation??
Of course, one thing you’ll never hear Jordan doing is talking about ideas to address issues facing America. He’ll never offer alternatives to take on the economy, education, health care, etc. Like every other Republican he has no alternatives to present. Politics is for him a zero-sum proposition, the ultimate game of King-of-the-Hill.
That he’s doing nothing to address the reasons his constituents sent him to Congress bothers him not in the least. He’s a rhetorical bomb thrower. He sees his role as doing whatever he can to embarrass Democrats, especially the President. It’s why you never see him pushing realistic legislation or seriously discussing policy alternatives that might lead to a positive outcome.
Jim Jordan is the inevitable outcome of Newt Gingrich’s 1994 Republican Revolution. Short on ideas or anything resembling a commitment to improving America, what Jordan wants to do is burn things down. It’s juvenile and pathetic, but his constituents don’t appear to disapprove of it. After all, they keep returning him to Congress.
Yes, Ohio, you get exactly the quality of leadership you deserve. Who knew your standards were so abysmally low?
