Is it me, or is "Right-wing lunatic" redundant?
And why do Republicans demand to be taken seriously when the GOP is nothing but an overstuffed clown car?
People surprise you, Frank, with just how fuckin’ stupid they are.
Richard Ford, The Sportswriter
With the raging clusterf**k surrounding the installation of American Taliban stalwart Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House and the “impeachment hearing” for President Joe Biden, it struck me. This is who Republicans are and why they demand to be taken seriously. Not that the GOP is composed of serious people, just that they demand, for reasons only they fully understand, to be taken seriously.
There’s nothing serious about today’s Republican Party. It’s an overstuffed clown car that always seems to have room for one more clown.
This iteration of the GOP is a mess. They can’t govern, negotiate, or exercise anything remotely resembling bipartisanship. All they want to do is burn things down, which isn’t an effective way to govern.
Perhaps you think I’m kidding. I’m understating the painfully obvious, but I thought I’d throw out a few examples so you can see where I’m coming from.
Franklin, TN, is a bucolic burg about a half-hour’s drive from Nashville. Erin and I have been there, and from the outside, it seems harmless enough. Sadly, Franklin’s politics are f*****g nuts, as personified by Mayoral candidate, real estate agent, and town alderman Gabrielle Hanson, with whom comedian John Oliver had a field day.
HBO’s John Oliver…spotlighted the behavior of a GOP mayoral candidate in Franklin, Tennessee, as being “entirely emblematic of Republican politics, from the local level all the way up to the top.”
Real estate agent and town alderman Gabrielle Hanson has “branded herself as a hardcore MAGA candidate,” the “Last Week Tonight” host noted.
Hanson has attempted to shut down Pride and Juneteenth celebrations, reportedly received support from a white nationalist group, and allegedly been busted for lying about a social media photo and foreseeing a school shooting, Oliver said.
“In a world that made sense, this woman would obviously have withdrawn from this mayoral race in shame,” he added in a video shared online by Raw Story.
But “there’s a real chance she could still win this election,” Oliver said. “Because while her numerous scandals are clearly almost cartoonish in their extremity, her behavior is entirely emblematic of Republican politics, from the local level all the way up to the top.”
“If we learned anything this week, it’s that far-right Republicans maintain a vise-like grip on the party,” he added, referencing the ousting of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) from the House speakership.
Yes, in a world where decency, kindness, and humility reigned supreme, Gabrielle Hanson would recognize the need to suspend her campaign and humbly beg for forgiveness.
But, in the Trumpified, f**k-you-and-the-horse-you-rode-in-on world we live in, Hanson might win.
And just like that, it was 1933 in Franklin, TN. F**K YOUR FEELINGS!!!
Thankfully, Hanson lost. It seems some folks are so far beyond the pale that not even a certified crazy place like Franklin, TN, has a place for someone like Gabrielle Hanson.
Perhaps the moral of the story is to keep your more objectionable views under wraps until you’ve been elected. THEN you can let your freak flag fly, eh?
Republican Senator Tim Scott is ready for the US to bomb Hamas and get hostages
If you’re a Republican, the solution to every foreign policy dilemma is to drop bombs on the most densely populated place on the planet because that MIGHT…but probably won’t…free the hostages. However, killing hundreds, perhaps thousands of innocent women and children will demonstrate American resolve to Hamas.
Because if there’s one thing America’s good at, it’s turning the Middle East into a parking lot.
Trump Knows Who Has A Hotter Body Than Joe Biden, It Is Himself
There aren’t enough vomit emojis to mount a decent response to this pants load of rancid diarrhea.
Franklin Graham blames Israel because citizens aren't 'forced to carry' assault rifles
What would Jesus have done? I’m not sure that Franklin Graham, even though he claims to be a man of God, has the answer. He seems to imply that Jesus would’ve been on patrol in east Jerusalem looking for Hamas militants.
Rev. Franklin Graham suggested Israel was to blame for recent terror attacks because the country does not require citizens to own assault-style rifles.
During an interview on Newsmax, host Greta Van Susteren asked Graham to respond to terrorist attacks in Israel that left hundreds dead.
"First, the Bible instructs us in Psalms 122 to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. And I certainly am praying for the people, the Israelis," Graham said. "I'm not praying for their enemies. I pray that God will give them victory over their enemies."….
"And so in this country, we have a right to protect ourselves [because of the Second Amendment]," Graham observed. "So you have a right to have a gun and protect yourself. In Israel, it's difficult to get a gun permit."
"But as far as having an assault rifle in your home or a shotgun or a hunting rifle, these things are very difficult," he continued. "And you would think that Israel would require anyone living close to the border of Gaza to have weapons in their home and maybe even be forced to carry those weapons. And I just, for the life of me, I can't understand what happened."
The reverend said he also wanted to "put blame on the Biden administration and the Democratic Party" because of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
"Only God can fix this and straighten it out," he insisted. "Our politicians are off-the-charts crazy, and I don't understand it. But what you're seeing in Israel could happen here one day, I'm afraid."
Sure, those crazy Canadians could someday launch hockey pucks into the US, breaking windows from Maine to northern Washington. And Americans along the border would have no way to protect themselves except for goalie sticks, gloves, and blockers. With the element of surprise, though, I’d still give Canada the edge.
Shouldn’t Rev. Franklin be in a nursing home doing the Thorazine Shuffle?
GOP Presidential Candidates Find A Way To Blame Joe Biden For Hamas’ Attack On Israel
Of course, they did. What, you thought they would devise a constructive plan to quell the fighting and bloodshed? Silly wabbit; that would require effort, compromise, and diplomacy. That’s a lot of damned work when the easy alternative is to pin it on President Biden.
Trump Is Once Again Very Sad About All The Entirely Legal Post-Birth Abortions
Well, no…that ISN’T abortion. That’s what’s known as “murder.” And once again, The Former Guy is too stupid to understand the finer points of the debate. Quelle surprise….
Don’t you wonder sometimes if these hyper-Christian American Taliban jackasses have ever heard of the separation of Church and State? And the fact that America ISN’T a Christian nation but a secular state with a large Christian majority? That IS a distinction with a difference.
Or are these idjits too arrogant and stupid to understand the Constitution and the demographic reality of America?
Let’s look at it this way: America is NOT a Christian nation…but it IS a secular nation where citizens are free to be Christian. Or anything else they want to be.
It never ceases to amaze me that millions continue to support an intellectual and moral Lilliputian who couldn’t string together two coherent sentences if his life hung in the balance.
Former President Donald Trump ate up alleged support from “Hannibal Lecter” in a terrifying slip-up at an Iowa rally.
The former president criticized open border policies on Saturday and claimed people were coming to America from “insane asylums” before bringing up “The Silence of the Lambs.”
“Hannibal Lecter, how great an actor was he?” said Trump in a mix-up between the fictional character’s name and Anthony Hopkins, the actor who played the cannibal in the 1991 film.
“You know why I like him? Because he said on television on one of the – ‘I love Donald Trump.’ So I love him. I love him. I love him. He said that a long time ago and once he said that, he was in my camp, I was in his camp. I don’t care if he was the worst actor, I’d say he was great to me.”
Hopkins has not publicly supported Trump and neither have other actors who have portrayed Hannibal Lecter including Mads Mikkelsen and Brian Cox, the latter of whom called Trump “such a fucking asshole” and “so full of shit.”
Yeah, I’d say Cox summed it up quite nicely.
Texas Republicans are no longer bothering to camouflage their extremist Right-wing leanings. They’re letting it all hang out for everyone to see, and they don’t care who recognizes their drift toward authoritarianism.
Because when you get right down to it, they’re pretty OK with appointing Donald Trump as AmeriKKKa’s first King and canceling future elections.
Dade Phelan, the speaker of Texas' House of Representatives, took a shot at some of his own political allies on Monday for meeting with infamous Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.
The meeting in question was hosted by Jonathan Stickland, the president of the Defend Texas Liberty PAC that has donated generously to Texas Republicans.
In condemning the meeting, Phelan emphasized that "this [is] not just a casual misstep" but is instead "indicative of the moral, political rot that has been festering in a certain segment of our party for far too long."
"Anti-Semitism, bigotry and Hitler apologists should find no sanctuary in the Republican Party," he continued. "We cannot -- and must not -- tolerate the tacit endorsement of such vile ideologies."
And yet those “vile ideologies” continue to gain traction within the Texas GOP…and voices like Dade Phelan are increasingly drowned out by the amount of money being funneled to Republicans by extremist organizations.
Money talks, especially when you have no morals or standards that prevent you from getting into bed with people wanting to turn America into a Nazi death camp.
We had a war about this already. Our grandparents’ generation kicked ass, took names, and put Nazism to bed. And yet, there are still people who want to bring it back? Have y’all learned nothing?
Wait, never mind… don’t answer that.
I could go on, but why? It just makes my brain hurt. And I think I’ve made my point, which is that we live in an America where stupid, evil, and amoral are enjoying something of a renaissance.
Anti-semitism, homophobia, transphobia, racism, bigotry, anti-Asian hatred, neo-Nazism, Christian Nationalism, White Nationalism, religious intolerance, Right-wing lunacy- it’s a long and not so illustrious list of chickenshit ideologies afflicting America today. And they all seem to begin with White Conservative Christian cisgender heterosexuals, some of whom seem bent on proving that they’re the Master Race and deserve to sit at the top of the food chain.
Meanwhile, there are people like me with a straightforward question we’d like to ask:
WHY CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?
Trump make me look svelte and athletic. You know who does NOT make me look svelte and athletic? Joe Biden.
