"It's Only A Matter Of Time Until They Start Putting Tranny Semen In The Frosted Lemonade"
Yes, Virginia...the bigots and homophobes really ARE that stupid
We have a problem. Chick-Fil-A just hired a VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This is bad. Very bad. I don’t want to have to boycott. Are we going to have to boycott?
It’s been a while…well, a day or two, at least…since we’ve seen the Right-wing Grievance Machine getting itself wound up. And this was just so damned predictable. Once the darling of the Rabid, Righteous Right, Chick-Fil-A is now in their crosshairs.
For what, you rightfully ask?
Well, how about for that most heinous of crimes- something no good, God-fearing, patriotic, White Conservative Christian heterosexual would EVER countenance? Yes, Chick-Fil-A hired a VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)…a couple of years ago, as it turns out, but time is elastic to a righteously aggrieved wingnut?
OMG, YOU CAN FEEL THE “WOKE,” CAN YOU NOT???
HOW DARE THEY????
Oh dang. "We have a problem," says paid blue check "Joey Mannarino," whose Twitter bio says his pronouns are "shut" and "up," so you know he's a smart and clever guy. Chick-Fil-A -- you know, the wingnut chicken store -- hired a diversity, equity and inclusion person. "This is bad. Very bad." He doesn't want to have to boycott Chick-Fil-A. "Are we going to have to boycott?"
Having a diversity, equity and inclusion person is, of course, a slippery slope, and you know what kind of slippery slope? The kind that's slippery because CUM ON IT.
Yes, it’s horrible news for those raised on hatred, homophobia, and bigotry. What are poor White Conservative Christian heterosexuals to do? Who and how should they hate if everyone’s focused on DEI 24/7/365?
Surely, we must somehow be risking the wrath of God? Or Joey Mannarino.
Tranny semen in the frosted lemonade? Is this brain-dead cretin serious? So this is the best argument he has to offer against Chick-Fil-A creating a VP of DEI position? And then, they wonder why no one takes them seriously and why they get laughed at whenever adults try to resolve problems.
The truth is that Chick-Fil-A, hardly a “woke” company under the best of circumstances, is simply trying to cover its collective sizable ass.
Companies do what they do to protect themselves. They’re in business to make a profit. After all, a business is supposed to do that. Chick-Fil-A has finally realized that diversity, equity, and inclusion are better ways to make money than bigotry and homophobia.
Of course, not everyone is falling for it.
I struggle with the idea that “Christian” companies should be expected to traffic in various flavors of hatred, bigotry, and homophobia. I may be an atheist, but even I understand that Jesus Christ taught love, acceptance, understanding, inclusion, and equality…among other positive qualities. The Gospel is full of those teachings.
So why would a “Christian” company be expected to reflect non-Biblical teachings? Why would they be deemed “non-Christian” if they’re not hateful, bigoted, and exclusionary?
Of course, Chick-Fil-A, a privately-held company, can operate as it sees fit. And those of us offended by its corporate stance have every right to take our business elsewhere. So I don’t see it as a boycott because I’m not choosing not to patronize Chick-Fil-A. I’m choosing not to consider the franchise as an option because their values don’t reflect mine. That’s not a boycott; they’re not even on my radar.
I believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion. If the haters and bigots don’t, that’s up to them. Of course, we can all take our business elsewhere, but the perpetual noise and outrage generated by the Right-wing Grievance Machine is rather tiresome.
Of course, for Joey Mannarino (and who is this brain-dead cretin, anyway?), this is all in some sad, sick way about free speech. Yeah, like the freedom to be a bigot, hater, and homophobe is anything but thoroughly reprehensible.
Wow, Mama must be SO proud….
Dude…you paid for Twitter? That’s a whole different level of stupid.
I’ll admit to not having paid enough attention to Chick-Fil-A over the past few years to know whether they’ve changed their ways. However, it does seem that appointing a DEI VP is a step in the right direction for a company founded on White Conservative Christian heterosexual values.
No, I’m still not planning on eating at Chick-Fil-A anytime soon. First, I’ll need to see verifiable progress on their diversity, equity, and inclusion journey. A DEI officer is nice, but that hardly represents a change in corporate culture. Come back when the LGBTQ community feels comfortable and welcomed by Chick-Fil-A.
Like perhaps when Chick-Fil-A celebrates Pride Month.
The problem is that too many companies do little more than give lip service to DEI. What they care about is not being sued for discrimination. Does the same hold true for Chick-Fil-A, and is their DEI officer more than an empty title with no real responsibilities?
Of course, the Right-wing Grievance Machine has been running full-tilt, and some Conservatives are convinced that it’s time to boycott Chick-Fil-A:
Best way for evangelicals to right this ship is to boycott Chik-fil-et.
Welcome to the death of irony, eh? Don’tcha just LOVE with when righteous outrage comes full circle?
As with so many Conservative reactions, this one has been, unsurprisingly, somewhat delayed:
I’m amused to report that Chick-fil-A’s VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has been in the role for nearly 2 years, has had a DEI title for 3y, and has worked for the company for more than 16y, according to his LinkedIn. These idiots just rile themselves up spontaneously.
So, some of these patriots aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, eh?
Suppose Chick-Fil-A has legitimately decided to be more inclusive and that it’s time to steer clear of bigotry and homophobia. If that’s the case, then good for them. The company is, of course, free to hold such values as it will. Still, it should also understand the repercussions of values negatively impacting specific population segments.
When companies discriminate against people because of who they are and/or what they believe or who and how they love, they’re shrinking their market. It’s hard enough to be profitable without reducing the number of people willing to patronize your business and buy your products. Perhaps Chick-Fil-A has finally realized that.
Even if that’s true, they have a long way to go to prove they’re no longer the bigoted and homophobic company they’ve been.
And no, I can’t imagine anyone putting “tranny semen” in the frosted lemonade. Or in anything else, for that matter.
And you wonder why I hate people (the concept) sometimes….
There was a Choke-Fil-A in the food mall at SIU when I was doing my Ph.D. work. This was in the 00's, so before it was widely advertised what goD-awful people they were. I tried a sandwich, I think three times, because I just couldn't believe how bad it was the first time. But it really was that bad. I've no idea how these people stay in business. Never mind the owners, their products are horrible.
This, of course, means I can't win any points for righteously boycotting their cr@p since I already refuse to eat it.
