Known rapist and criminal complains about being given insufficient free propaganda time
Talking Orange Asshole demands victory speeches be aired in their entirety; networks yawn and then laugh in his face
There is a reason that we and other news organizations have generally stopped giving an unfiltered live platform to remarks by former President Trump. It is not out of spite. It is not a decision that we relish. It is a decision that we regularly revisit, and honestly, earnestly.
Rachel Maddow
As expected, the Talking Orange Asshole rode to victory over the prostrate bodies of his overmatched competitors to capture the Iowa Caucuses. So proud was he of his glorious triumph that he demanded all of his subjects gather around their television sets to be subjected listen to his inspiring tour de farce victory speech.
Having been down this road before, news outlets weren’t inclined to give Orange Jesus free air time to broadcast his grievances to the drooling, knuckle-dragging masses, especially since the Airing of the Grievances happened last month during Festivus.
Known rapist and criminal defendant Donald Trump won the Iowa caucus Monday, and while that’s somewhat newsworthy, the rambling, incoherent prevarication exercise he performed afterward most definitely was not. However, Trump is pissed because the media outlets he loathes didn’t air his speech live and uncut.
Even Trump’s loyal Fox News only managed about seven minutes before cutting away from his extended fascism dance mix. CNN aired some of his remarks but broke away once he started insulting immigrants, which is sort of his whole thing. Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany was appalled that CNN would cut Trump short based on journalistic ethics instead of simple boredom.
“We saw it play out to just censor this man!” she exclaimed. That wasn’t “censorship,” and I don’t share the cultural bias that would make me think McEnany is play-acting the idiot just because she attended Harvard. That institution has produced more genuinely stupid people than Burger King has pumped out Whoppers.
“Jake Tapper, what a shameful moment from a so-called journalist — as you have exposed him, he is not!” (Yes, the first thing you learn in journalism school is to just press play, sit back, and let a wannabe despot lie unchecked on your airwaves.) “… To cut off Donald Trump … Let the people hear the man speak, the leader of the Republican Party!”
Come on, man…we’ve all heard the Talking Orange Asshole’s schtick far too many times. Most of us could recite his speech practically word for word:
Self-congratulation
Belittle opponents
Cheap personal insults
Lies
More lies
Exaggerating his capabilities
Airing of grievances
Airing of yet more grievances
Lies
More lies
Empty promises
Lies
More empty promises
Good night!
He’s then played off by a song the artist doesn’t want Trump using and whose lawyer will send a sternly worded Cease and Desist letter in the morning.
It sounds like almost every Trump speech you’ve ever heard, right? So why would anyone responsible for programming give Orange Jesus free air time?
Look, if Trump is the unquestioned leader of the Republican Party and this whole primary is in the bag, then we definitely don’t need to hear him speak every time he beats his Washington General-level opponents.
MSNBC had the best idea and refused to run any part of his deranged rant….
Maddow correctly noted that there’s “a cost to us as a news organization of knowingly broadcasting untrue things. And that is a fundamental truth of our business and who we are.”
Trump went after Maddow while campaigning in New Hampshire Tuesday night.
“We were talking about her show and how corrupt the press is, and last night it was amazing,” he said. “NBC and CNN refused to air my victory speech. Think of it —because they are crooked. They’re dishonest, and frankly, they should have their licenses or whatever they have: Take it away.”
What the Talking Orange Asshole doesn’t realize is that no network is under any obligation to give him any airtime, whether for his victory/airing of grievances speech or anything else. If he says or does anything newsworthy, you can bet that CNN, MSNBC, et al., else will air it. But for his usual whining, bitching, and moaning about things that aren’t even real? Why bother? It’s not even news; it’s just lousy propaganda…and we’ve heard it before.
At this point, facts hardly matter because MAGA Nation doesn’t run on them, anyway. They only get in the way of the Talking Orange Asshole’s preferred narrative, don’tchaknow?
There’s almost no sense countering this nonsense with facts, but here we go: Broadcast networks aired reruns in September 2022 instead of President Joe Biden’s speech warning about the active threat to democracy. Trump has his own social media site, and an entire right-wing online media propping him up. He’s OK.
This is textbook malignant narcissism, by the way: He can’t enjoy his success because he constantly feels others have wronged him. He’s a deeply unhappy man, which I’d normally relish but I’d prefer he suffer a complete mental breakdown far away from the nuclear codes.
Donald Trump is a deeply troubled man who can’t even enjoy the wins he achieves because of his deep-seated belief that someone somewhere has done him wrong. And so he obsesses over these slights, whether real or perceived, as that obsession sucks all the joy out of whatever success he’s achieved.
No matter what he does or how well he does it, he’s always looking to settle scores, and he never lets up because his list of grievances is long and knows no statute of limitations.
He’s just the sort of immature, whiny-ass loser that America doesn’t need…but perhaps somehow deserves in some sick, perverse way. After a quarter-millennium of a perfectly serviceable- if somewhat flawed- democracy, maybe many folks no longer appreciate what we have…or they take it for granted. Maybe spending the rest of their lives living in an unstable dictatorship might leave them appreciating what they once had.
Then again, Trump’s followers are just stupid and thoroughly propagandized enough that they might not notice the difference.
Democracy? What democracy? King Donald the Talking Orange Asshole has given us something SO much better. Why would we want democracy?
