Lord Stumblefuck turns Memorial Day into just another Airing of the Grievances...yawn

Memorial Day is generally a time for somber reflection. We remember those who’ve died defending America and thank those who’ve served. The day is not in any sense intended as a time for celebration or, even worse, for the airing of one’s myriad grievances.

Of course, that was before Donny Diaperfull, for whom EVERY day is a great day to air his too numerous to list grievances.

Memorial Day was no different. He used his Truth Social social media platform cum Right-wing echo chamber to get a few things off his chest—and, of course, to make the day all about himself. In other words, it was pretty much like any other day.

Barack Obama issued a poignant statement in honor of Memorial Day. “One of the greatest honors of my life was the privilege of serving as commander-in-chief, and with pride also came sometimes heartbreak and loss,” the former president wrote. “And the sober recognition of the sacrifices that so many Americans and their families have made to preserve our freedom.

“On Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” the Democrat concluded. “We owe them so much, and their memories will never be forgotten.”

A couple of hours later, President Joe Biden spoke at Arlington National Cemetery and delivered sober remarks in recognition of the holiday and its importance. Celebrating the fallen, Biden explained that they are “bound by common commitment — not to a place, not to a person, not to a president, but to an idea unlike any idea in human history: the idea of the United States of America. Today, we bear witness to the price they paid.”

In between the calm, reasonable, and rational messages from former President Obama and current President Biden came the unhinged broadside from the Duke of Shitferbrainz, who, as ever, made Memorial Day all about himself.

The New York Times described it thusly,

[Biden's] somber message was a sharp contrast to that of former President Donald J. Trump, his challenger for re-election this year, who posted an angry and incendiary Memorial Day message on his social media site. “Happy Memorial Day to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country,” the former president wrote on Truth Social.

Angry and incendiary? Nah, that’s Dolt 45 at breakfast. This self-serving piece of barely literate crap was a monument to the sociopathic narcissist who wrote it. Utterly ignorant of what the day is meant to commemorate, the Lord Stumblefuck couldn’t even be bothered to pretend to care about America’s fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines.

“Happy Memorial Day to all?” WTF is that about? It’s not Christmas; it’s not like we’re supposed to be exchanging gifts. Memorial Day isn’t supposed to be a joyous day of celebration…and Dolt 45 is acting as if it’s Christmas Eve.

There’s something very, very broken about Donny Diaperfull. His father thought he was a fuck-up (ol’ Fred was spot on, wasn’t he?), and everything he touches turns to shit. Every relationship in his life—including his children—is transactional. One has to wonder if he’s ever known even a moment of real, genuine, and unconditional love in his life.

The Times added, “As has been the case for years, either as president or as a presidential candidate, Mr. Trump showed that he would not be held to the norms of behavior that guide the nation’s leaders on a somber national holiday.”

In theory, it’s tough for a politician to bungle Memorial Day. All he or she has to do is honor those who served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice, while lending support for their loved ones. Even Trump should find this relatively straightforward.

But the Republican apparently couldn’t help himself….

It’s one thing to feel as if you’ve been wronged. We’ve all been there, and we’ve all probably handled it poorly. Lord knows I have a time or six. That said, we’re certainly within our rights to expect a former President to rise above his petty personal grievances on a day set aside to remember those who’ve died defending America.

That the Duke of Shitferbrainz couldn’t even do that much speaks to a level of immaturity that’s truly stunning for a 78-year-old man—dumb as a post turtle and possessing the maturity of a 12-year-old.

At no point did Trump reference, even in passing, American servicemembers who perished. He instead apparently confused Memorial Day with Festivus and decided it was time for him to air some grievances.

Precisely the kind of leadership this country is lacking at the moment, yeah?

But while we wait to see if those legal developments unfold, it’s worth pausing to imagine what the political world’s reaction would be if a presumptive Democratic presidential nominee issued a Memorial Day statement that (a) ignored fallen troops; (b) referred to his foes “human scum”; (c) and implied that he saw the national holiday as all about himself and his grievances.

It would likely be one of the dominant political stories of the year. The fact that this wasn’t the first time the Republican has recognized Memorial Day in an ugly and offensive way should make the story that much worse.

But because we’ve all grown accustomed to Trump’s madness, his offensive rant hasn’t generated a flood of coverage.

Trump has already earned a reputation for denigrating American troops, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. His latest fiasco adds insult to injury.

Because we’ve grown so inured to his immature excess, this will slide by like everything else he does. This is exactly the sort of childish bullshit that would disqualify any other sane, rational Presidential candidate—but we all know that Dolt 45 is neither of those things. And so he plods along, scorching the Earth behind him as he goes.

And precisely because he doles out his immature excess in oil tanker loads, the mainstream media will yawn and treat it as just another day in the life, even as they treat Joe Biden like the village idiot.
