Redhats, can we talk? I’ve been doing these ‘week in stupid’ posts for almost a year now, and you people are making my job way too easy. just shut the fuck up. from now on, you have no comment. you see a guy coming towards you with a microphone? say it with me: no comment.

It’s getting to the point where when I see anyone in a red hat- ANY red hat- I turn around and head in the other direction. It could be a Kansas City Chiefs or Los Angeles Angels hat; I’m generally not going to hang around long enough to find out. I’m doing a 180, and I’m outta there.

Why? Because even in Portland, I don’t want to take a chance on running into someone with a MAGA hat and a chip on their shoulder. And I’m not the only person in the blue part of Oregon who feels this way. Erin and I went to a Willie Nelson concert at an outdoor venue outside Portland a few years ago. We were fortunate enough to have reserved seats just a few rows from the stage. About 30 minutes before Kacey Musgraves opened for Willie, a man wearing a MAGA wandered into a seat perhaps two or three rows in front of us.

It was like there was a 20-ft. forcefield around MAGA Man. No one wanted to get near him, and he appeared blissfully unaware of his pariah status. I don’t know what happened after that because I chose to ignore him, but I think about that moment now and again. I think of his pride in being a pariah in a very blue part of Oregon and how he strutted like a peacock. That was some weapons-grade stupid.

He could have been the nicest man ever…well, no, he was wearing a MAGA hat, and good people don’t vote for Donald Trump. Period. Trump voters hold values that run counter to what good, decent, caring Americans believe in. They’re generally bad people who believe dumb things for stupid reasons. They don’t care what America thinks of them… this man didn’t.

Worse, while some Trump supporters may not themselves be stupid, most MAGA types fall on the lower end of the intellectual/educational scale. For instance, there’s this clown, a UFC fighter who apparently would never lose a fight…save for the fact that referees hate him because he supports Donald Trump.

Yeah, that’s got to be why.

It couldn’t have had anything to do with being an inferior fighter. Being a right dumbass and a crybaby has nothing to do with anything, I suppose. No, that couldn’t be it; he got jobbed. That’s the only acceptable reason for his loss.

Your average MAGA Man (or woman) isn’t big on evidence. They require no proof of concept. They know what they know and believe what they believe. They distrust science; knowledge and expertise are their sworn enemies. Doctors are merely shills paid by Big Pharma to push expensive, harmful drugs, and only “real” Americans (people like them whose education has come through experience) can be of real help to anyone.

They hate the government…but if their VA or Social Security check is a day late, there’s going to be HELL to pay. And they live in mortal fear of “SOCIALISM!!” but if their house were on fire, the local fire department had damned well better be there YESTERDAY!

To say that Trump supporters have a twisted and self-centric view of the world would be something of an understatement. They (White, Conservative, Christian, Cisgender, Heterosexual) HATE when those not like them get the same things they have. Their Prime Directive is to keep THOSE PEOPLE from getting “something for nothing” (the same stuff they get) from the government.

A big part of the reason they adore Donald Trump is that he feeds their grievances and, even more importantly, hates the same people they do (or at least he makes a pretense of it).

Many Trump supporters have a profound hatred for Joe Biden that defies any rational explanation. They want to see him impeached, though there’s no evidence that he’s guilty of “high crimes or misdemeanors”…or even that he has “friends in low places.”

Some want him executed for treason, though they can’t elucidate how he’s betrayed or sold out his country. It’s a pathetic sickness, a mental disorder unlike anything I’ve seen before. Trump supporters don’t just disagree with President Biden; they’re convinced he’s the spawn of Satan, the locus of all Evil, and that the only way America can be saved is for him to be killed.

(Jesus, these people really are dumber than a box of used condoms….)

They don’t care that he has a family, people who love him, or a life outside of being President. To MAGA World, Joe Biden isn’t even human; he’s a caricature, the living embodiment of everything terrible, evil, and wrong with America- Robocop with a stutter.

It’s because of Joe Biden that drugs and illegal aliens are pouring over our southern border. Because of him, gas is over $3/gallon, and the prices of eggs, milk, and beer have all gone up. And our southern border is a sieve (never mind that Republicans refuse to pass immigration reform because they don’t want to hand the President anything redolent of a victory).

Everything bad is Joe Biden’s fault. And the good things that have happened during his time in office? Meh, they would’ve happened despite Biden. Besides, he’s just reaping the benefits of Donald Trump’s four years of unrivaled successes and brilliant leadership.

President Biden could find a stash of trillions of dollars in stolen Nazi gold in Donald Trump’s asscrack and determine that the best course of action is to share the wealth with every American…and MAGA Nation would bitch and moan about it. They’d be upset about all of those not like them- good, patriotic White Conservative Christian Cisgender Heterosexuals- who’d be getting paid just like them.

“What have THEY done to deserve it?” the MAGA masses would whine.

Because America’s Most Mediocre would, for some unexplainable reason, believe they’re most worthy of any windfall.

Stupid really is as stupid does.
