Mediocrities, Nonentities, And Lousy Liars...Oh, My!!!
Republicans sent less than their best...and most of them, I assume, aren't good people
And not only the pride of intellect, but the stupidity of intellect. And, above all, the dishonesty, yes, the dishonesty of intellect. Yes, indeed, the dishonesty and trickery of intellect.
Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
Once upon a time, I was a wee lad living on the frozen tundra of northern Minnesota. Living in a burg of less than a thousand frozen souls meant I had a lot of time to ponder the world outside of Walker, MN. That meant I thought about a lot of things- life, sex, the universe, sex, Hollywood, girls, sex, and large existential questions like “Would the Minnesota Vikings ever win a Super Bowl?”
One of the things I occasionally considered was what it would be like to serve in Congress. I wondered how smart or accomplished one had to be to serve in such an august body. Then, about 20 years ago, I got a tour of the U.S. Capitol from a staff member in a Texas Congressman’s office. I remember standing in the gallery of the House of Representatives, pondering the two-plus centuries of history that had taken place there and marveling at how small the place was. It seems so large on television, but standing in the gallery, I was struck by how small it felt.
That room fit 435 people and assorted staff? Really? It seemed hard to fathom, though feeling the history around me was certainly impressive.
As a kid, I’d always assumed that belonging to such an esteemed body required one to be brilliant, articulate, and capable of super-human debating tricks at a moment’s notice.
Then I got to know today’s House GOP Caucus. Frankly, I was surprised to learn that most of the idjits can tie their shoelaces.
Most of these maroons shouldn’t be allowed to manage a Dairy Queen, much less represent a congressional district and have the authority to propose and vote on legislation that will impact almost 350 million Americans. That should scare the living s**t out of any thinking, lucid American.
When you realize that the House Republicans who get the most press are intellectual and moral nonentities like Marjorie Trailer Greene, Paul Gosar, Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Lauren Boebert, and Jim Jordan, despair follows closely behind. Between them, these dullards don’t possess a functional IQ or sense of human decency.
To call the members of the House Freedumb Caucus embarrassments to the institution would be to insult those Congresscritters who are actual embarrassments. No, these cretins believe they’re God’s gift to the American body politic, though it’s difficult to understand how they can be allowed out into the general population.
There’s only so much Stupid the American people should have to endure from their elected representatives, but the House Republican Caucus seems to have used up their quota inside of their first month as the majority party. They seem to believe Stupid is an inexhaustible resource. Judging by their first couple of weeks as the majority party, I couldn’t argue.
And don’t even get me started on Republican running jokes like Steve Scalise and Elise Stefanik, both of whom are bad propagandists and even worse liars. I’d say they should be ashamed, but I’m not sure they possess the ability to process shame.
Then you have unabashed mental and moral reprobates like Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who’s never encountered an issue he couldn’t reduce to a highly partisan conflict with the Biden Administration. That’s because, as any REAL American knows, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are Evil Incarnate whose only concrete goal is to enslave Americans to their woke Liberal agenda.
Or something like that.
Not that Jackson has a clue what any of that means. The man shouldn’t be allowed out in public on unsupervised release, and yet he’s an elected Congressman. That doesn’t say much about his constituents, but, if you’ve ever been to Lake Jackson, TX, you’d understand that Ronny Jackson’s one of the more lucid Republicans from those parts.
So does anyone in the reality-deprived Freedumb Caucus even understand what they were elected to do? Or are they spending their days tripping on Fox News conspiracies and performative outrage?
Because it seems that none of them actually care about what being a Congresscritter actually means.
somewhere deep inside Ronny Jackson’s addled brain he imagines he’s a freedom fighter. in reality he’s going to be falling asleep during Agriculture Committee meetings where the topic of debate is whether to raise the corn subsidy by two or three cents a bushel in the next fiscal year.
Marjorie Three Toes has been in Congress for two years and I’ll bet serious money that to this day she has no idea how a bill becomes a law.
and it’s not just Day Drunk Ronny and the Space Laser Lady. the entire Republican House is just one self-important delusional bomb-throwing maniac after another.
I’d love to tell these rodeo clowns to do the jobs that their voters sent them to Washington to do, but the sad fact is that the voters sent these bomb-throwing maniacs to Washington to be bomb-throwing maniacs.
When Stupid is the coin of the realm, you know that the Freedumb Caucus is wealthy beyond measure, though it’s the sort of wealth few really want.
It’s at about this time that I have to wonder how long most of the House Republican Caucus have been snacking on chocolate-covered lead-based paint chips. Most of the intellectual and moral nonentities lack the bandwidth to grasp the realities of the world around them, much less do their job. They live in a world in which January 6th was a “normal tourist visit” and the insurrectionists were “American Patriots.” They believe Democrats to be enemies of the State and that only Republicans have the moral and ideological solutions to save America.
Time to lay off those paint chips, maybe?
Virtue is under certain circumstances merely an honorable form of stupidity: who could be ill-disposed toward it on that account? And this kind of virtue has not been outlived even today. A kind of sturdy peasant simplicity, which, however, is possible in all classes and can be encountered only with respect and a smile, believes even today that everything is in good hands, namely in the "hands of God"; and when it maintains this proportion with the same modest certainty as it would that two and two make four, we others certainly refrain from contradicting. Why disturb THIS pure foolishness? Why darken it with our worries about man, people, goal, future? And even if we wanted to do it, we could not. They project their own honorable stupidity and goodness into the heart of things (the old God, deus myops, still lives among them!); we others — we read something else into the heart of things: our own enigmatic nature, our contradictions, our deeper, more painful, more mistrustful wisdom.
Friedrich Nietzsche, The Will to Power
Yes, Virginia, the GOP is a political party firmly in the grip of the Dunning-Kruger Effect, too dense and intellectually bereft to understand how stupid and morally broken they are.
Trust me when I guaran-damn-tee this: Ronny Jackson, Marjorie Trailer Greene, Paul Gosar, and the rest of the Freedom Caucus aren’t going to save America. Most of these folks should be on a court-ordered Thorazine drip 24/7, not spreading conspiracy theories and carrying guns on the floor of the House.
If we have to depend on these clowns to “save” America, we’re all hosed.
Wir sind SEHR gefickt, y’all.
I've decided I'll only refer to the FC as the Fascist Forum. There are limits to how far I am willing to abuse the language.
But indeed, these animals were elected precisely so as NOT to govern.
