If you have a bad sore throat or an agitated stomach, you’re probably going to call your doctor. Who else are you going to trust when it comes to your physical well-being? If you break a leg, you’re not going to go to an auto mechanic. This is why I find myself gobsmacked at the (presumably) otherwise sensible folks who are taking Ivermectin, a sheep de-wormer, instead of getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

(IRONY ALERT: The people calling those of us who have received the vaccine “sheep” are taking…wait for it…a sheep de-wormer. I can’t even begin to make sense of that.)

Yes, instead of taking a vaccine that’s safe, effective, and FREE, the brilliant contrarians are taking something you have to go to a farm supply store to purchase. But, unfortunately, the stupidity inherent in that seems to be lost on the Right-wing geniuses convinced that Ivermectin is the magic bullet.

Have Fox News and the Right-wing Echo Chamber so thoroughly corrupted the thought processes of previously lucid Americans…or were these folks this easy to manipulate all along?

Has “owning the Libs” becoming the highest and best value on the Far-Right, to the point where Patriots are willing to die rather than admit they were wrong and science was right?

I try hard to convince myself otherwise, but it’s difficult for me to escape the conclusion that close to half the American population is addicted to rage, racism, and reaction. They reject science and objective truth. They’ve also created their own reality in which they’re never wrong, Donald Trump is President, and COVID-19 is a Liberal hoax. AND they’ve convinced themselves that Liberals are the stupid ones.

The problem with living in a manufactured reality is that ACTUAL reality will bite you in the ass at some point. Wanting things to be a certain way should not be taken to indicate that they WILL be that way. The world is what it is. In this case, Joe Biden is President, COVID-19 is genuine, and nutjobs on the Far-Right are paying for sheep de-wormer. And they’re doing it instead of taking a proven, safe, effective, and FREE COVID-19 vaccine.

Where’s the sense in that? Well, if you don’t mind pooping your insides out to own the Libs, it probably makes perfect sense. But, if you’re someone with both feet firmly grounded in reality and common sense, you’re scratching your head and thinking, “WTF is going on here??”

Between the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 Presidential election, I’ve come to understand that a large segment of the American populace doesn’t have both feet on solid ground. They know what they know, they believe what they believe…and it doesn’t really matter if it’s true or correct in any objective sense. It is to them, and that’s all that matters. No amount of fact- and logic-based persuasion will change their mind.

This is how we get people taking sheep de-wormer in the belief that they’re WAY smarter than those stupid Libs.

And they call us sheep….
