Right-wingers aren't better than us, but they're often bigger assholes
Arrogance, ignorance, and self-righteousness aren't good looks
(She seems nice. Mama must be SO proud.)
I understand strong opinions; I have a few of my own. I can appreciate vigorous differences in opinions. I can even understand when those differences might grow a bit heated. But to call for those you disagree with to be executed? Seriously? How small-minded and intolerant does one have to be to believe that you have the right to advocate for killing those whose only “crime” is having different political views?
American democracy has always thrived on the interplay of differing opinions. Vigorous debate is one of the things that has made America what it is today. No one person possesses all the knowledge necessary to keep America on top. It takes people with different backgrounds, experiences, education, and passions to keep this country humming along in top form.
Ideas aren’t the enemy, particularly when another person's ideas don’t mesh with yours. That’s when good people put their heads together and pull out the best ideas. They recognize that they don’t know everything, but a group of people between them might be able to fill knowledge and experience gaps and develop workable solutions.
There shouldn’t be anything threatening about that. It’s how any collection of people gets better over time.
Laura Loomer has never been someone anyone would mistake for having a great mind. Intolerant, dogmatic, self-righteous, and ignorant, she’s prone to believing that those who disagree with her threaten the dominant narrative and must be dealt with firmly and swiftly.
A broadcast by right-wing podcaster Tim Pool was cut short when guest Laura Loomer, an outspoken white nationalist and conspiracy theorist, called for Democrats to be executed.
On a recent Timcast IRL YouTube stream, Pool reacted to the 34 guilty verdicts against former President Donald Trump.
Pool himself isn’t a great mind, so it was no surprise that Loomer would appear on his show.
What was a bit of a surprise was Loomer’s rhetorical excess. No, I would never expect innovative solutions or grand ideas to emanate from her, but neither would I expect her to advocate the execution of those who dare to think differently. That’s messed up.
LOOMER: “I’ll put it this way: should Democrats be in jail? No question. When Donald Trump gets elected, should he start locking them up? No question. Should there be lists of Democrats who need to go to jail? One hundred percent,” Pool said, continuing:
POOL: The reason for that is, they’ve committed crimes. We need to make sure that when Donald Trump wins, we’ve got an attorney general, a deputy attorney general, a head of the CIA and the FBI. Kash Patel would be fantastic. We can have, for attorney general, there’s some names floating around. And, then they can start having their investigators and the feds issuing subpoenas, pulling up evidence, and with real evidence, bring them to judges for warrants. Then these people can spend three years of their lives fighting tooth and nail against the government for crimes they committed and we can prove. And the reason why we put them on trial is, we can show the whole world we will uncover what you’ve done, we will make sure everybody knows, and you will be held accountable for it.
LOOMER: Not just jail, they should get the death penalty. You know, we actually used to have, the punishment for treason in this country —
And with that, the broadcast abruptly came to an end.
I’m all for free speech, but if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times—free speech can be and very often is vile and objectionable speech. That shouldn’t be taken to mean someone is honor-bound to provide anyone a platform to spew their hatred and bile.
Whoever pulled the plug on Tim Pool and Laura Loomer was probably fearful of being sued for broadcasting incitements of violence. Whether that would happen is anyone’s guess, but no reputable broadcaster with an intelligent lawyer on retainer would want to take that chance.
It’s vile and objectionable to suggest that Democrats are guilty of treason—especially when that’s nowhere near being true—and you have no evidence to support such a specious claim. But when you cross over into advocating that Democrats be executed for treason, that seems a bridge too far.
Laura Loomer’s astonishing ignorance, arrogance, and self-righteousness aside, there’s nothing about her that would allow her to pass judgment on Democrats in the way she’s allowing herself. She’s in no way intellectually or morally superior to Democrats she’s passed judgment on, certainly not to the point of condemning them to death for treason.
More than anything, Loomer is just another parasite who would be nothing if she hadn’t hitched her star to the Duke of Shitferbrainz, who himself would be nothing if not for:
Yes, one thing led to another and then another, and eventually, we found some real fuckin’ weirdos, knowhutimean?
, bless his heart, came across MAGASo, it works like this: God talks to her about what will happen to Donny Diaperfull, and then she passes it on to the knuckle-dragging MAGA masses.
F’rinstance, on Thursday last, God told Ms. Green that Count Fuckface von Diaperstain would be found innocent on all 34 counts—a complete and total vindication.
The problem is that most of what God supposedly told Ms. Green is wrong. So, how did she manage to clean that mess up and maintain her prophetic street cred?
“he said, there will be no guilty verdict, because there’s no crime. he will not do any time behind their bars in their prisons — no, they will not get what they wanted. no, not at all. we can say, well that was not true because there was a guilty verdict. look, he says there will be no guilty verdict. because when someone is exonerated, it’s like it never existed in the first place. you can have a fake inauguration. doesn’t mean that person in that place is a real president. you can have a fake king, to be coronated. that doesn’t mean he’s actually king. you can have a fake verdict. it doesn’t mean that person is actually guilty — at all.”
fuckin’ god, he’s always working in those mysterious ways.
Yep, no matter what happens, it can always be rationalized, which means you’re NEVER wrong, and your prophetic record will remain unblemished. HALLELUJAH!!
But that’s not all the STOOPID. Remember the “War on Woke?” Yeah, it’s still a thing and just as pointless and stupid as ever. This time, though, it has a new and completely unexpected point man:
Remember, “woke” is just about respect. It’s about looking out for one another and not being an asshole. That’s pretty much it. Sadly, Seán Lennon didn’t learn the lesson from his famous father.
Yo, Seán—I think your mother has a message for you.
If you think being “woke” is a terrible/bad/nasty/awful thing, you’re essentially giving yourself license to be an unrepentant asshole. Is that really how you want to go through life, screwing others before you think they’re going to screw you? Wouldn’t it be easier to be kind to others and hope to reap the reward from that karma?
You need not be a dick to others to be successful in this world, nor do you need to hurt others to assuage the pain inflicted upon you by others. It’s possible to let go of your pain, exercise kindness, and hope for the same in return.
That way, you won’t be advocating for executing Democrats for no concrete reason or for gratuitously being assholes to others. Nor will you be finding ways to excuse the piss-poor behavior of others.
Hold yourself to a higher standard, and don’t be afraid to hold others to that standard. You might find life feels better when you treat others respectfully, and others will return the same to you.
That seems like it should be pretty basic, but in today’s America, it’s not. That doesn’t mean we can’t make kindness our default, though.
Don’t be a Laura Loomer. Be a
