Do you remember the days when Republicans talked about “limited government” like they meant it? Like Ronald Reagan’s “Government governs best that governs least”…or something like that. Those folks were actually, kindasorta, about not only talking the talk but walking the walk. They really DID want to get government off the back of the little guy.

Of course, then the Moral Majority came along and they discovered that government was a GREAT tool for enforcing their moral and religious agenda on the country. They couldn’t do it with a small government, though. They knew that enforcing their will on the entire country would require a large government staffed by willing and commitment Christocrats.
