The Crucifixion of the Donald
And he's not afraid to (repeatedly) remind you of his victimhood
I’m going to give you some advice: don’t be such a whiny asshole. It makes you look weak.
Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Fugly
While you were unwrapping presents and trying to stuff yourself full of turkey and pumpkin, erstwhile Presidential wannabe Donald Trump was celebrating the season, as is his wont, by being a whiny bitch. Nothing unusual in that, of course. It’s nothing we haven’t seen or heard before, but you’d think the guy could take Christmas off and lose the victimization schtick for at least 36 hours or so.
When you have your name on a social media platform (one that, in proper Trump form, is losing money hand over balls), I suppose you’re obligated to provide content. Though one could reasonably expect that, on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the tone might be a wee bit more…conciliatory.
Sadly, Orange Jesus knows only one gear- victimhood- 26/8/375. And while you and I might be sick to death of it, we’re rational people with a grip on reality. Trump’s base has never reasonably been accused of either, and so they worship the ground he urinates upon.
Yeah, life sucks, everything is terrible…but if you elect me as your President, I will make everything wonderful again!
(Right…just like he did before, yeah?)
I will pull a much better healthcare system out of my ass (just as I promised to do when I was President the first time but didn’t because it was just too damned much work). And I will make America great for White Conservative Christian Cisgender Heterosexuals again.
Hey, at least the guy’s consistent. He said the elections in 2016 and 2020 would be rigged, and now he’s pulling the same shit for 2024. Talk about the soft tyranny of low expectations, eh? He’s ensuring that no matter what happens, he wins.
If Biden wins next year, Trump can and will claim election interference by Biden’s nefarious Democratic Machine ©. If Trump wins, he can crow about how he emerged victorious despite the attempts to rob him of his rightful victory.
The claims that can be made when you’re unburdened by the requirement to provide evidence of your accusations are genuinely impressive.
But look on the bright side. No matter how good or bad your holiday season was, you could probably guaran-damn-tee it was better than Mango Mussolini.
It’s a low bar….
You’d think the guy could lighten up for at least one day of the year, eh? But, no, he insists on working himself into a rage and perhaps even into an aneurysm…and wouldn’t that be an awesome thing to behold- Donald Trump speechless? Yeah, what if Orange Trump were to suffer a massive stroke that impacted his speech center but left his mind intact? That would be his ideal of Hell…but our idea of Heaven, yeah??
Oh, HELL, yeah….
Merry Christmas to my persecutors! Also, may they rot in hell! Also, Merry Christmas!
Many people are saying no one has ever had it worse than Donald Trump. Many are saying that what Jack Smith is doing to him is worse than the Roman authorities making Jesus wear thorns on his head and driving nails through his palms. Many people are telling Donald Trump this.
Yes, many people are comparing Donald Trump to Jesus…and those people should be on high doses of Thorazine because there’s nothing about Orange Jesus that should remind anyone of Jesus Christ.
But to Trump’s MAGA followers, the difference between being Christ-like and BEING Jesus Christ is splitting hairs. They’ve found their Messiah, and they don’t care about details.
In 2016, Trump supporters could lean on a slew of hopeful arguments: Trump is just acting; he’ll hire professional staff; the “good” Republicans will keep him in line; the job will sober him up. All of these would be disproved over time. (It didn’t help that the alternative at the time was Hillary Clinton, for whom I voted but whose campaign was a tough sell to many people.) But by 2020, Trump, along with his enablers at Fox and other right-wing outlets, had created a kind of impermeable anti-reality field around the GOP base. This shell of pure denial defeated almost any argument about anything.
Media, flummoxed by having a sociopathic narcissist in the Oval Office, treated Trump like a normal political leader, and soon we all—even me—became accustomed to the fact that the president of the United States routinely sounded like the guy at the end of the bar who makes you decide to take your drink over to a table or a booth. When Joe Biden won, I hoped that this strange fever gripping so many Americans would finally pass. But the fever did not break, not even after January 6, 2021, and the many hearings that showed Trump’s responsibility for the events of that black day.
And now Trump has kicked off his attempt to regain office with a litany of lunacy….John Hendrickson notes Trump’s return to the classics of grievance[.]
A “kind of impermeable anti-reality field” combined with a “shell of pure denial” (and an apparent immunity to the deleterious effects of trans fats) is probably the best description I’ve heard of Trump’s followers. They don’t care what he’s done, what he’s accused of doing, his previous criminality, or any previous bad acts. THEY. DON’T. CARE.
Of course, if it were Joe Biden who was guilty of anything close to what Trump has been shown to have done, he would’ve been out of the race long ago…and deservedly so. Democrats- and REAL Americans- would never put up with that shit. MAGA world, however, thinks the sun rises and sets over Orange Jesus, and they’ve convinced themselves his shit doesn’t stink. (Reports to the contrary indicate that’s very definitely not the case, however)
Have a large segment of the population lost their f*****g minds? Considering that more than 72 MILLION intellectually and morally deficient Americans voted for Mango Mussolini in 2020, it would be hard to answer that question in anything but the affirmative. Seventy-two million; how is that even possible? Surely, that many Americans can’t be that f*****g stupid, can they?
Yes, propaganda is a powerful thing…and don’t call me Shirley.
There are still ten months until Election Day, and I hate to think of what those months will be like and how this country will find new and different ways to tear itself apart.
We should face reality, though, and come to grips with the fact that the GOP presents a grave threat to American democracy and that a Trump win in November 2024 would almost certainly end that democracy as we know it.
Are y’all willing to take that risk??
