The Living, Breathing Poster Child For The Dunning-Kruger Effect
Marjorie Taylor Greene- Stupid, bigoted, mean-spirited...and built to stay that way
I don’t write about mental and moral maroons like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) because I’m trying to give her and those like her more oxygen. No, I write about fools like her because I’m distressed that America has devolved into a moral sewer that celebrates nonentities like her. It’s become a place in which one of its two major political parties and its supporters openly advocate and cheer for abject cruelty, stupidity, and moral turpitude. The absolute worst among us garners face time and column inches because she draws clicks and views. It’s pathetic, but such is the state of the American polity today.
Time was when Republicans at least pretended to be about what was best for the country. Now they no longer even bother to maintain the illusion that they stand for anything positive and uplifting. No, it’s so much easier to tell their voters who to hate, fear, and oppose.
Today’s GOP is a pretty sad-sack conglomeration of low-lifes and their supporters.
During Donald Trump’s “Brian Kemp Sucks” hate rally…GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was released from the attic like Mr. Rochester’s crazy first wife. She is the perfect representation of the GOP’s platform, which appears to be little more than "cruel bigotry with the emotional maturity of a grade-school bully."
She tried discussing actual policy for a minute with a standard recitation of GOP gibberish. After Republicans stomp Democrats in the 2022 midterms, she said, “You’re going to see a new Republican Party — a Republican Party that defends our nation’s borders, a Republican Party that finishes the wall, a Republican Party that saves this economy and stops this inflation [and] ridiculously high gas prices ... We’re going to drill oil right here in the U.S.A.”
What an absurdly silly person. She’s obviously more at home smearing LGBTQ people. She started into a repulsive rant against Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who is harmless and normal and only a viable “target” because the GOP is a party of sick bigots.
To refer to Rep. Greene as a bigoted POS with no socially redeeming value is hardly a stretch- because I’m hardly the first to do it. How she justifies seeing herself as being the apotheosis of humanity, something she has in common with most Republicans, defies understanding. She’s the same Congresswoman who’s spoken authoritatively of “Jewish space lasers.” Now she believes that cycling and driving an electric car will turn you gay.
Then she suggests that Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, stalk young girls in women’s restrooms (does she not know that they’re gay?). Then, after insinuating that the Buttigiegs are pedophiles, Rep. Greene moved on to attacking transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
GREENE: Yeah, and Lia Thomas? Lia’s going to remember his name is William, and he needs to go back to men’s swimming, because we’re going to kick the biological men out of the women’s sports.
Rep. Greene is, quite simply, a disgusting ball of hate and appalling ignorance who’d rather tear people down than focus on the truth that she’s no ubermensch herself. But, then again, it’s easier to spread hatred against transgender people because…well, that’s what passes for a Republican applause line these days.
The fact is that Rep. Greene and her fellow Republicans don’t give a damn about women’s sports. What they care about is passing laws so that they may criminalize identifying as transgender. Not that being transgender harms anyone; it’s just one more hot-button issue Republicans can use to spread their unique brand of hatred and prejudice.
It’s deplorable that the people in the GOP who attract attention these days are the ignorant haters- poster children for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. While Marjorie Taylor Greene may believe herself to be sitting on the top of humanity’s food pyramid, she lacks the self-awareness to recognize the truth. She shouldn’t be allowed to work at a Dairy Queen, much less hold down a seat in Congress.
Every time Rep. Green opens her mouth, I’m reminded of a famous line from “Forrest Gump”:
Stupid is as stupid does.
