This Week In Stupid- Tree-Huggers And Then Whatever This Guy Is (Eww....) Doing To A Tree
We can only hope the poor tree wasn't traumatized
******My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.******
We got WOOD-TV: Remember, y’all, it’s Pride Month, which means we don’t want to piss off the bigots and haters. There are a bunch of homophobic Christians out there who don’t like to be reminded that the LGBTQ community stole the rainbow from Jesus, so let’s tone down the gay coverage, ‘kay?
Yeah, it turns out that an assistant news director at a Michigan TV station was wary of angering some of the station’s White Conservative Christian heterosexual viewers. So she sent out a memo instructing reporters to “tone down” the coverage of Pride Month activities. After all, you wouldn’t want the good, God-fearing White Conservative Christian heterosexuals feeling like Pride Month was being shoved down their throats, would you?
The news director of a Michigan NBC affiliate ordered her reporters to ease up on coverage of LGBT-focused stories during Pride Month, saying the news pieces were upsetting some of the station’s conservative viewers.
The memo, penned by WOOD-TV (Channel 8) Assistant News Director Amy Fox, followed several reports that focused on a celebration hosted in the city of Grand Haven after officials there approved a permit for an inaugural Pride Month parade.
The stories featured several interviews with individuals who identify on the LGBT spectrum, with most saying the Pride Month celebration allowed them to feel comfortable in their community after years of no recognition.
“I feel compelled to remind folks that any society that values justice must also value diversity, equity and inclusion,” Catherine McNally, the mayor of Grand Haven, said in one report aired by WOOD-TV.
But the stories did not sit well with some viewers who expressed displeasure on the station’s social media account, and those complaints — however few in nature — ultimately provoked Fox to send a newsroom-wide memo urging reporters to think twice before they commit to a story on LGBT-related events during Pride Month.
“We know that West Michigan is a Conservative area in many ways,” the memo said, according to a copy obtained by The Desk. “We need to recognize that some stories related to LGBTQ issues are going to be controversial and polarizing in our community. While you personally may not agree with a certain position, people are entitled to their opinions, and they are our viewers.”
Right. Because pandering to haters, bigots, and homophobes ALWAYS turns out well.
As Mama said, you mustn’t hurt the ninnies’ feelings.
“A man has been arrested after he was seen having sex with a tree in a public park”: If you’re like me, you had to read that more than once. And, if you’re like me, the first thing that probably came to mind was “Splinters??”
I know I can be a sick bastard, but you can’t make this stuff up, and as the picture below demonstrates, it appears to be authentic. WAY too real. (Wieners have been blurred to protect the innocent.)
There was no confirmation from the tree regarding whether the sex was consensual.
A man has been arrested after he was seen having sex with a tree in a public park….
A witness reportedly captured the man on camera kissing, caressing and having passionate “sex” with the tree in Queen Elizabeth Gardens in England.
“I was just walking in the park with one of my mates and we saw a man hugging a tree and thought it was interesting. We walked closer and as we did, we saw his trousers down,” the witness who shot footage of the incident told a UK news outlet.
“I started recording and he just started taking off all his clothes and kissing the tree. After I stopped recording, the police turned up and started following the man around then arrested him.’’
A video accompanying the article states that the man “was just trying to get a nice piece of ash.”
Everyone’s a comedian.
Let’s hope the poor guy remembered to use protection…or at least a good lubricant. I still can’t get past the risk of splinters.
Someone bought $2,200 worth of Trump Bucks…and he’s upset that they’re not legal tender??: OK, so I realize we’re talking about Trump supporters, but how stupid do you have to be to buy $2200 in “Trump Bucks” and then try to use them like they’re legal tender?
Yes, THAT stupid.
Con artists are reportedly targeting Trump supporters by peddling “Trump Bucks,” telling people that the fake tender emblazoned with images of Donald Trump will make them rich after the former president is elected again in 2024.
One of those targeted is John Amann, who tweeted out a warning in February, telling others that the fake cash has no real monetary value.
“Alert if you purchased any of the TRB SYSTEMS ITEMS, YOU GOT SCAMMED,” Amann. tweeted. “THE TRB VOUCHERS, DJT GOLDEN CHECKS, DJT DIAMOND CHECKS, TRB GOLDEN CHECKS have no monetary values they are COMMEMORATIVE ONLY.”
Speaking to NBC News, Amann said he bought $2,200-worth of Trump Bucks and other items this year only to find they were worthless when he tried to cash them in at his local bank. Now he wants to warn other Trump supporters not to fall for the scam.
GTFOH….
Do you mean to tell me that Amann honestly thought that “Trump Bucks” would be worth something? Did he do any due diligence? Did he do any research on those who were selling the “Trump Bucks?” If he had, he might have realized the shady nature of the transactions.
Then again, supporters of The Former Guy aren’t renowned for their intellectual agility and incisive, whip-smart ability to think on their feet. No, they’re usually sitting on their brain.
I suspect our intrepid hero leaped in with both feet and without engaging his brain. What’s the old saying- a fool and his money are soon parted? So, d’ya think he might just’ve deserved what he got just a wee bit? Yeah, probably so.
“The chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed”:
Fox News (FNC), the cable news network that’s always claimed to be “fair and balanced,” showed its true colors again on the night Donald Trump was arraigned on 37 federal counts. Once President Joe Biden spoke to comment on the matter, Fox posted a chyron stating, “WANNABE DICTATOR SPEAKS AT THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER HAVING HIS POLITICAL RIVAL ARRESTED.”
That the President is neither a wannabe dictator nor didn’t have his “political rival” arrested appears to have mattered. FNC isn’t particularly interested in the truth. They’re far more interested in what they can convince knuckle-dragging, undereducated viewers to believe…which is pretty much whatever they’re told.
The day after Fox News featured a chyron referring to President Joe Biden as a “wannabe dictator,” the network issued a statement addressing how it was handled internally: “The chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed.”
The chyron appeared onscreen for 27 seconds during Fox News’ prime time programming, at the tail end of Fox News Tonight. The full text read: “Wannabe Dictator Speaks at the White House After Having His Political Rival Arrested,” which echoes claims by former president Donald Trump that the 37 federal charges against him are tantamount to politically-motivated persecution. Trump was arrested and arraigned in a Miami courthouse yesterday and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The Washington Post called the chyron “startling” even by Fox News standards, saying “the stark and flippant phrasing of the chyron struck many critics as crossing a line into outright falsehood.” The New York Times also noted that Fox News host Brian Kilmeade erroneously referred to Trump as the “President of the United States” during Fox News Tonight.

The chyron also went viral on social media — Axios reporter Alex Thompson noticed the chyron and posted a screenshot on Twitter along with a video, showing Biden speaking at the White House while Trump gave his own speech in New Jersey.
When it comes to Fox News, I don’t believe in consequences. This wasn’t some low-level graphics dude who’d been smoking weed in the back of the studio and lost some self-control. No, I have a hard time believing this was a random boo-boo committed by someone who overstepped his bounds.
Call me cynical, but I firmly believe this was a deliberate attempt at character assassination directed at Joe Biden by Fox News. The message wasn’t missed, and it reached its intended audience, who are already fairly well convinced that Joe Biden isn’t a legitimately elected President.
Perhaps the chyron was taken down and addressed- with a high-five and a hearty “well done!”
The FSN producer responsible for running the chyron resigned, though it’s unclear if the chyron was the reason.
When asked about it at the next White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to it by obliquely referring to the Dominion settlement:
“There are probably about 787 million things that I can say about this,” she said. “That was wrong what we saw last night, but I don’t think I’m going to get into it.”
Fair enough. Probably best not to respond to such a provocation and to let it die on its own.
So far, the Biden Administration has done a masterful job of dodging the slings and arrows of the childish immaturity demonstrated by the Far Right, including FNC and other Far-Right news outlets. Why give them ammunition now?
“I don’t want reality:”
For the record, let’s stipulate that Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is one of those “dipshit Republicans” who’s WAY too heavily invested in trying to ban what he’s either afraid of and/or doesn’t understand.
Which, it seems, is pretty much everything.
here he is, rascistsplaining to a panel of children’s education experts. frustrated that he can’t get through to these pernicious communists, he starts talking over them and finally shouts “I don’t want reality!”
at last — the Republican agenda, explained.
And yes, you can sum up the Republican agenda in those four short words- “I don’t want reality!” The GOP doesn’t deal in or with reality. They have no platform or ideas, and even when they finally propose an economic plan, it doesn’t appear to be grounded in anything approaching economic reality.
Anyway, watch the video. I think you’ll agree that Sen. Mullin may be FROM this world, but he’s undoubtedly not OF this world.
Until next week, enjoy the stupid without actually BEING stupid.
