Trumpers Think They're The Bright Ones?
Most of these folks can't spell "ballot box" and probably shouldn't be allowed anywhere near one
Perhaps I’m overreacting, but it seems as if Republicans are rhetorically throwing jello against the wall in the hope that something will stick. Unfortunately, with the midterms approaching, the GOP has thus far been unable to find an attack strategy that shows any promise. They’ve smeared Democrats as “groomers” and “pedophiles.” They’ve taken credit for programs they opposed. So far, nothing has worked. Republicans have been their own worst enemy…and it’s been fun to watch.
Even with the threat of a recession looming, nothing seems to be working. Unemployment is low, job creation is high, and gas prices are dropping. Nothing Republicans have lobbed at Biden thus far has stuck.
They continue trying to find a crack in the President’s armor before Election Day, so far to no avail. Sometimes the effort has seemed rather silly.
A RED LIGHT? ? A podium? Two uniformed U.S. Marines? Looks like the summoning of Satan if you ask the GOP.
President Joe Biden delivered one of his presidency’s strongest condemnations of Donald Trump and the MAGA movement in a prime-time speech on the steps of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The stage was lit in alternating bands of blue and red, but a close up shot of Biden framed him entirely within the red portion of the lighting. The image evoked the unholy for many Republicans — despite red being the party’s official color.
“He looked like he was in the depths of hell,” former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley told Fox News on Friday.
Former assistant treasury secretary Monica Crowely struck a similar chord Thursday night. “The imagery there was almost satanic, with that blood-red lighting and the two Marines behind him,” she said on Fox News. “It was just insane.”
OMG…could it be that Joe Biden is dabbling in the occult?
The President of the United States is a worshipper of Satan?
Perhaps that’s why he looks so fit for his age, no?
Well, no.
During his speech, President Biden referred to “MAGA Republicans” as “semi-fascist.” Judging by the reaction from the Far-Right, you could’ve been forgiven for believing that the President advocated for pedophilia or fornication or consuming the still-beating hearts of young virgin girls sacrificed to the Dark Lord.
Mmmm…tasty….
Nothing that Joe Biden said was incorrect, insulting, or controversial. Republican pearl-clutching wasn’t based on the veracity of his accusation but rather on the fact that he made them at all. “How DARE he call us fascists??”…said those who’d love nothing better than to put a fascist back into the White House.
Frankly, from where I sit, the shock was not that the President referred to his opponents as “semi-fascists” but rather that he didn’t do it sooner (and that he used “semi.”) It’s not as if he didn’t have excellent reasons and ample evidence that the GOP is becoming the party of creeping fascism.
After all, when a prominent member of the GOP compares a Democratic President to Adolf Hitler, something is very sick and wrong. But, then again, what else could you reasonably expect from Rep. Marjorie Trailer Greene (R-GA)?
Just imagine the Republican outrage and cries of righteous rage if Democrats had done something similar to Donald Trump during his Presidency. The call for blood and retribution would’ve been loud, long, and resonated from coast to coast.
The fact that the tweet came from a sitting (Republican) member of Congress is disgusting, with nary a peep expressed by her colleagues in the GOP caucus. If a Democrat had done something similar, they would’ve been (justifiably) crucified by their colleagues.
Ah, but Twitter always remembers:
Yeah, right. WE’RE the broken ones. Talk about lack of self-awareness and being the poster children for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. These folks think they’re God’s gift to America, but one could make an argument that they’re too far too dense to vote.
One might start to question the basic intelligence of MAGA Republicans when they tell you how “diverse” Trump rallies are.
Of course, if you think I’m being unfair to Trumpers, I’d invite you to catch The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper as he “Fingers the Pulse” with Trump supporters. Trust me; not only will you be entertained, but you’ll understand what I’m talking about. These are not people who should be allowed anywhere near a ballot box.
And yet….
I’m not gratuitously insulting the intelligence of Donald Trump or his supporters. No, they do that without any outside assistance. These aren’t folks with high IQs, nor do they value education or intelligence (and yes, I realize I’m generalizing). They distrust expertise and intelligence as a group, as we saw during the COVID-19 epidemic. The death rate among Republicans was far higher than Democrats, which was hardly coincidental.
You can pass that off as natural selection, but I find it sad that so many are so angry and distrustful that they can’t take the word of doctors, scientists, and other experts in their fields. Instead, they trust people they find on Facebook, Twitter, or Telegram.
And many ultimately perished because of that misplaced trust.
Greetings from our new and imperiled idiocracy.
Honestly, I think what the MAGAts are really offended about is that Biden said "semi"; made it sound like they lacked commitment (and maybe were a little gay.)
Also, I'm a little more confident in dismissing them as uniformly stupid and uneducated. This is because I mark a very real distinction between years in school ("Schooling") and education. While schooling can greatly facilitate education, the first is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for the latter. Having one myself, I've a pretty good idea of what goes into earning a Ph.D., and dogged determination will get the job done as well, and generally more easily, than substantive intelligence.
Regardless of whether these ignorant buffoons have attended enough school to know how to spell "Morons", they "silo" what they've been exposed to (note, I do NOT say "learned") so that the pieces form nothing like a comprehensive, coherent picture. (Robert Altemeyer, author of "The Authoritarians," uses the term "compartmentalization.") So even though Tip O'Neill has a Ph.D. in history, I probably had a more synoptic grasp of history as a B.A. philosophy major from Occidental College. (To the extent that O'Neill actually realizes that what he says is viciously false, neo-fascist twaddle, then that makes him an entirely different, and more disgusting monster.)
In any event, what I would characterize as education, and not mere schooling, is that comprehensive coherence; the making of connections rather than siloing bits of trivia in isolated compartments where they do nothing to inform a total picture. Some of the best educated people I've ever met never formally graduated high school.
