When Hating People You Know Nothing About Just Isn't Enough, Part Troix
Welcome to 1933 Germany and "lives unworthy of living"
...it’s just another one of those things I don’t understand: everyone impresses upon you how unique you are, encouraging you to cultivate your individuality while at the same time trying to squish you and everyone else into the same ridiculous mould. It’s an artist’s right to rebel against the world’s stupidity.
E.A. Bucchianeri, Brushstrokes of a Gadfly
Whether for reasons of political expediency or sheer laziness, red states are reaping rich veins of political capital from trafficking in hatred, bigotry, homophobia, and- the flavor of the moment- transphobia.
It’s becoming far too easy for Republican politicians and American Taliban “Christians” to vilify transgender people. Their numbers are small- fewer than one in 300 Americans are transgender. And they lack political clout. Because they have no political power or influence, transgender people are easy targets for those now bent on destroying them. And when I use the word “destroy,” I mean that in the most literal sense. Many of their most vociferous opponents would happily see them ground into dust without hesitation or remorse.
