In what has to amount to the cruelest April Fools joke ever played on the international community, Russia has assumed the Presidency of the UN Security Council.

Sadly, however, this news is no joke, and Russia, which can only charitably be described as a pariah state in the wake of its criminal invasion of neighboring Ukraine, is expecting to be taken seriously.

Like that’s going to happen. Indeed, the pushback has already begun. After all, the Russian President has been indicted on war crimes charges. That’s not something easily disregarded.
