Why would you need absolute immunity if you've done nothing wrong?
Donald Trump is terrified he'll be held accountable for his crimes for the first time in his life...and schadenfreude is warming up in the bullpen
They are compulsive liars. A tactic they use is to add a nugget of truth to the lies so make them more believable.

Did you ever wonder how American Presidents have served for 235 years without full immunity…yet the Republic hasn’t crumbled? Nor have Presidents been prevented from fully performing the duties of their job.
Could it be that a system of checks and balances works? Also, it may just be that not having an all-powerful despot in the White House is a GOOD thing. Now, after 46 different Presidents, including Donald Trump himself, Orange Jesus is convinced that the ONLY way a President can effectively function is with complete and absolute immunity. Not only is that unconstitutional, but it also places the President above and beyond the reach of the law, which is precisely where Trump wants to be.
Could it have something to do with his rage-posting against E. Jean Carroll more than 30 times in the 24 hours before his appearance in a New York City courtroom in the penalty phase of her lawsuit against him? The court has already established that Trump is a rapist- a finding that has had ZERO impact on MAGA Nation- but Donny Diaperfull continues to litigate the case on social media.
Immunity? For being a sex offender? Sure, when you believe you’re above the law and shouldn’t be held accountable for anything you’ve ever done, why not? It’s everyone else’s fault- These people are “SICK.” Trump is never responsible for anything, nor has he ever done anything wrong, so in his mind, full immunity is merely to stop weak, sick minds from harassing him and keeping him from serving the American people.
Or keep him from needing to toss cheap personal insults at his rivals. C’mon, y’all; do you think he enjoys this? Don’t you think he’d rather be doing something- ANYTHING- else??
If you’ve listened to Trump over the past few weeks or months, you know full well his intentions. He’s spoken openly of being a dictator and more than once spoken in glowing terms about Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán, whose rule he’d no doubt love to emulate. This would include muzzling the press, closing hostile media outlets, and clamping down on free speech and expression.
It would also include significantly reduced power for labor unions and workers and increased power and influence for corporations, all of which would be intended to consolidate Trump’s power.
So when Trump begins calling Nikki Haley “Birdbrain,” you can rest assured it’s because he sees her as a legitimate threat. If he didn’t, he’d carry on and ignore her, secure in the knowledge that she’d drop out soon enough and endorse him like all the other obsequious milquetoasts have.
Whether or not Trump’s rants on his own social media platform have widespread influence is difficult to say. They resonate among MAGA Nation, who are on Truth Social and gobble up his rants like nuggets of knowledge from On High.
What Trump fails to acknowledge or even realize is that a woman talking about sex does not constitute a stain on her character. In a rape case, it isn’t relevant. Just as what she was wearing when she was raped, her fantasies, or how she discussed sex doesn’t make her more “deserving” of being raped. It doesn’t make her a woman of “loose morals.” Trump’s efforts to impugn her character are childish at best and immoral at worst.
The only issue in play is that of consent, and the court has already established that Ms. Carroll didn’t consent to sex with Donald Trump. That is the definition of rape, and Mango Mussolini is, therefore, a rapist.
Returning to the idea of absolute immunity, then, it’s become increasingly clear that Trump is running for President so he can keep his demented ass out of prison. Immunity is the only way he can ensure he won’t be held accountable for his multiple felonies. He’s well aware that the circle is closing around him and that he's in YUUUUGE trouble if he doesn’t win in November.
To protect himself, Donny Diaperfull is lashing out as only he can. What that’s gaining him is difficult to know. It has to be exhausting, especially for someone in his late 70s.
Then again, maybe we’ll get lucky, and trans fats will have their way with him.
A boy can dream, no?
It doesn’t take a Constitutional scholar to understand that giving Presidents absolute immunity, especially one as immoral, unethical, and self-centered as Mango Mussolini, is a terrible idea. Simply imagining the precedent it would set is terrifying enough, but what Donald Trump might do without legal guardrails is frightening.
And yet he continues to argue that he should have no limits placed on him and that he should have the right to do anything without having to fear consequences. This would mean that whether on a personal or political level, Donald Trump would be free to be as corrupt as he wants to be…a genuinely terrifying possibility.
Of course, Trump may fail to realize that if he’s successful and Presidents are granted absolute immunity, it could backfire against him. President Biden could use that immunity to have him arrested and held indefinitely…or worse. (I’m just weird enough to kinda like the “or worse” part.)
It’s doubtful Biden would do that, but Donald Trump isn’t smart enough to understand the Law of Unintended Consequences, meaning that what he thinks he can use against others could potentially be used against him.
All right, Karma fans. It’s the top of the ninth inning, and Schadenfreude is loosening up in the bullpen….
